Solas Throne Room for WondLa ep. 5
I designed, and built the world of this Orbonian seat of power as an “Alien Nouveau.” The visual language is obviously inspired by the turn of the 20th century style but with a fresh twist. The form language is loosely inspired by designer Luigi Colani. And the architecture is as if it’s designed by an alien Antoni Gaudi :) celebrating the Orbonian nature.
Using VR as the main tool of design between @andyharknessart and I, massively pushed the world building and art direction process exponentially forward. What we’re able to produce in a few days or weeks could have taken us months in the traditional process. What we imagined a few years ago as VR revolution in preproduction, was successfully realized in #WondLa . Thank you John Lasseter for this opportunity!

After @tad.playgrounds , @bingserrano and I had a fun time driving around Holland. Saw Tulips farms in Noordwijkerhout, Amsterdam, lots of Miffy, Rijks Museum, and historic “Bridge too far” WW2 places (bucket lists ✅): Eindhoven, Oosterbeek Church, Nijmegen Bridge, Arnhem-Oosterbeek War Cemetery, Arnhem Bridge, Airborne at the Bridge Museum, and St Eusebius Church.
@tad.playgrounds Eindhoven was an amazing experience. I presented the use of VR in Production Design and get to share a glimpse of production images and video from the epic “Jesus” animated feature film I’m working on. Truly honored to share the stage with colleagues @jamajurabaev@kortizart@pedrodtconti@rhemrev@_alexhirsch_@mollyheadycarroll and other amazing industry professionals.
