The rain held off just long enough Sunday for another great Paint for Preservation wet paint auction! Thanks to all intrepid souls who came out to support art and the environment once again, to our generous Sponsors, Host Committee, and Artists who donate a portion of their sales to CELT. And thanks to the nearly 70 volunteers who make it all happen. Stay tuned for more photos!
Reminder: A piece of the Cross Town Trail between the Great Pond I and II properties is closed for repair. Please reverse direction at the metal boardwalk. Several posts are rusted, some have failed, and reports state that boardwalk frames will be damaged if people walk on it in this condition. The Town has scheduled for its repair in the next 2 weeks. Please see the Town website for updates. /news/post/7845/ #trailwork#leavenotrace#trailmaintenance#trailcare

We are excited to support the Cape Elizabeth School District, as well as friends, families, and adventurers alike to get out on the trails this summer and check out a project that includes science, art, writing, and construction!
The Cape Elizabeth 5th Graders have been working collaboratively with CELT, Friends of Fort Williams, and the CEMS Art teacher to bring a magical experience to a few walking trails in Cape Elizabeth. Students worked in pairs to build gnome houses which are now nestled amidst the trees at Turkey Hill Farm, Great Pond, Willow Brook, Fort Williams, and Gull Crest.
Visitors to the trails can download/print or pick up a punch pass at CELT’s office, the Lumbery, and possibly other spots around town. This will provide visitors a map of the trail with the various locations of gnome homes. Visitors can use the unique-shaped paper punches found inside each gnome home on the punch pass.
We kindly ask that the public respects the creations of the students and the land that the gnomes are on. This project has been expressly authorized by the Cape Elizabeth Land Trust on our preserves, please do not add or modify the gnome village in any way. If you notice any damage to the homes, please let us know by emailing info@capelandtrust.org.
