Trigger Warning ⚠️ flashing lights and self harm imagery.
My intent here is not to glorify or shock. It is rather a personal attempt to illustrate my ongoing relationship with bipolar (and other “inconveniences”). A highly functional dysfunctional state and all those things we don’t talk about.
The concept is not about “the end” itself but rather about choices and people that impact those possibilities/realities/timelines and how anyone at any given moment can change that outcome.
Inspired by my currently favourite track “white doors” by
@odafelicia (on repeat) and her complex relationship with Huntington disease and the way she ever so delicately brings awareness to it. An incredibly beautiful album.
I can’t thank
@lillyjay___ enough for being open to embracing such a difficult and stigmatised topic, and giving it her genius touch to it. Even though it’s not a dance heavy idea, Lilly was still all the way in, both creatively and emotionally and not weirded out by the subject. Beautiful human.
Not to mention her partner,
@elgalloo4l who is totally giving Gosling in “The Place Beyond The Pines”. Thank you, Edwin.
Thank you to all the dancers (
@rolliegomes_ @kalaniifrancis @ash_hook @imogencook_ @laurenkoro @sofia.altea )that joined us last minute and worked on rather conceptual-on-the-spot chorey to a track that was played in reverse (
@deanwebsterr thank you for solving that piece of the puzzle).
My dear wife
@sopholloway_ for playing with the lights and just being there, always.
