When I think of the wonderful humans in my life.

Recently someone said, “play some golden oldies”. Someone else said, “yeah - play some Madonna!”
I was confused. Didn’t golden oldies refer to ‘50’s music? And against better judgement, isn’t Madonna still actively performing?
This dress is made from a 1960’s pattern using 1980 deadstock linen blend fabric with silk scarves as a bow tie.

In 1970, I wore paisley pants and went to Grateful Dead concert.
Can’t remember much about the band but I remember those pants. This dress reminds me of those pants. Sigh….
Paisley is a cotton blend, the blue tie is silk and the green panel is a silk blend. The rabbit in the pocket is not included.

There is even speculation about Mother Goose being a real person. Goose=human? Only if you are teasing someone by telling them they are silly.

Dare I admit this?
At night, I crawl into bed, tired from the days activities, and watch cat videos on my iPad.
The cats make me smile and I happily drift off to sleep.

Like most families in the 50’s & 60’s we had a Rec Room in the basement.
Short for recreation room, there was a sofa, television, a sewing table and a thin closet where my dad kept his tool box and his Canadian Special Service army uniform.
Us kids thought it was the Wreck Room and did our best to honour its’ moniker.
Kimono jacket back fabric looks a lot like the curtains that covered the rec room’s window with front & sleeves 100% linen.

What do you miss about Toronto?
I am often asked this and I don’t know where to start because I miss everything — my friends, my garden, my family, the restaurants, the diversity and the sounds.
This mini -dress reminds me of Toronto. The green cotton body is cool and comfortable, the airy sleeves are colourful and full of lovely things.

Who knew? That wheat starch makes a great fabric starch.
Even after 2 washes these sacks retained some starch and it is superior to the expensive spray on fabric starch I buy all the time.

Groovy, baby
In the 1960’s, or the beginning of time, people really did say groovy a lot. We wore bright floral jackets and greeted each other with a peace sign.
