We're thrilled to announce Julia Bumke has been named Executive Producer at AMOC*! A longtime collaborator, Julia has served as a dramaturg and producer on multiple AMOC* projects including Rome is Falling, echoing of tenses, and Zarabanda Variations while also working as Executive Director and in-house producer for JACK Music Inc., the nonprofit contemporary music organization behind JACK Quartet. While at JACK, Julia led JACK Studio, the quartet's ambitious commissioning arm that develops new work through workshops, recording projects, and premieres, and which receives more than 500 applications annually from artists across the globe.
"I'm so excited to work with this incredible group of artists," said Julia Bumke. "AMOC* has such a special emphasis on rigorous, thoughtful projects that couldn't happen anywhere else."
Julia has extensive experience collaborating with composers, librettists, and playwrights at all stages of their careers. Recent work includes premieres and projects in development with Penn Live Arts, 92NY, Baryshnikov Arts Center, Oberlin Conservatory, Opera Philadelphia, Curtis Institute of Music, and PEAK Performances at Montclair State University. She was the Festival Producer for the 2022 Look + Listen Festival in Brooklyn, and served as the interim Artistic Director at Passage Theatre Company in Trenton, NJ.
Additionally, she has held administrative positions with Sō Percussion, PlayPenn, The Wilma Theater, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and the American Repertory Theater; and has consulted for numerous nonprofits on fundraising campaigns, grant writing, and strategic planning. She served on grant panels for the NY State Council for the Arts, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, and New Music USA’s Creator Fund.
"Julia's unique experience, leadership, and dedication to developing new work provides tremendous excitement for our next chapter as a company: continuing to create meaningful and artistically ambitious work, at greater scale,” said Artistic Director Zack Winokur.
Please join us in welcoming Julia!

Carolyn Chen’s HOW TO FALL APART opens tonight in LA! To celebrate, we’re taking another look at Chen’s inspiration.
THREE TURTLES WERE TROTTING ON A VERY NARROW SIDEWALK
When writing #HowtoFallApart , composer and poet Carolyn Chen sourced inspiration from myriad myths from Hindi, Chinese, and Native American traditions, all centering on tales of a giant turtle that supports the world.
Chen's evocative work describes cosmic, natural, and human processes of disintegration, aging, and falling apart.
HOW TO FALL APART is presented in a co-production with @mondayeveningconcerts , at @ladanceproject .

Ahead of next week’s performances of Carolyn Chen’s HOW TO FALL APART, we’re exploring of few of Chen’s sources of inspiration.
I PASSED UNDER THE ROOF OF THE HEAVENS
This Flammarion engraving (1888) depicts a man, clothed in a long robe and carrying a staff, kneeling down passing his head, shoulders, and right arm through a gap between the star-studded sky and the earth, discovering a marvelous realm of circling clouds, fires and suns beyond the heavens.
Citing several ancient beliefs in a flat Earth and the greater universe as a dome, composer Carolyn Chen builds on her long-standing compositional work "in which sensuality and abstraction find common ground" (LA Times).
Don’t miss HOW TO FALL APART in LA June 4th and 5th in a co-production with @mondayeveningconcerts , at @ladanceproject .
