Hello Lovelies, hope you are doing great and staying hydrated during this extreme heat waves. I was in Delhi for the past one month and what I experienced there weather was unimaginable. It was extremely hot and almost felt like hell. Now that I am back to Mumbai, it’s much better but it’s extremely humid and warm. So, all I am trying to say is that climate change and global warming is real and it’s here way early than what we expected. I started my journey as a Co Founder with @wildwestinnovations in 2016. At the beginning of it, it was super exciting to share our journey with consumers, partners, Governments, Policymakers and people who were curious about our product and the whole process of Recycling. We started our first machine at Churchgate Station Mumbai and we instantly gained recognition for the work we were doing! Our focus from the beginning was Recycling at Source’ so that the plastic bottles wouldn’t land up with other wet waste or land up in landfills or the ocean. In order to make it successful we used ‘Coupons’ to incentivise people to use our machines and recycle their plastic bottles. Hey you, yes you!! Today, I want to talk about what does it really mean? The term ‘Go Green’ , well for me personally I just feel that humans are a part of nature and it’s not the other way round. At a personal level, I try to follow some steps which are not hard but taking these baby steps every day: • Buying from brands which support local communities and use sustainably sourced and organic produce in their products. • Using less lights and more natural light at home during the day. • Consuming less meat and dairy and instead going for more plant based diet. I have been trying hard for last 6 years, sometimes I succeed and sometimes I give up. • Using public transport rather than owning a car of my own. • Recycling at source, simply by segregating my dry waste and wet waste. In the year 2006, I moved to Mumbai and the first time I went to Colaba, I fell in love with the place. Right from the architecture, trees, culture, the ocean and of course the only and only @tajmahalmumbai . I instantly knew that it was love at first sight, right from school, college and till date I keep going to experience the old world charm of this city. This city is home and my first love and it shall remain so forever no matter which part of the world I move to. One of my favourite things to do is, walking around the quiet and green lanes of Colaba, shopping at the ever crowded Colaba Cozway and finally grabbing a cup of coffee or dinner at this beautiful hotel. Hello Lovelies, I am really overwhelmed by the response that I got from my last reel. It was a very spontaneous video that I did about one of my favourite skincare brand. My sister asked me to make another video for all you lovelies where I talk about my skin care routine. Well, I made this video about another one of my favourite brands which is organic, smells heavenly and is environmentally conscious. Yes, this time it is @forestessentials . I have been using their products for last 7 years and my all time favourite being their ‘Mashobra Honey, Lemon & Rosewater facial cleanser’. I have also been in love with ‘Noor Nikhaar Cheek Tint’, I use it everyday and everyone thinks that my pink glow is natural cause it blends with my skin so well. Recently, I tried their ‘Mogra Facial Tonic Mist’ and it’s absolutely refreshing specially in this crazy summer. While I was in Delhi I started using my sister’s tinted lip serum ‘Madhu Rasa’. It has a coffee flavour and I am so obsessed with it. Today as we celebrate ‘World Environment Day’ we reflect back on our journey which started back in 2016. We started with just one machine at Churchgate Station Mumbai and with everyone’s support and enthusiasm we were able to start a journey into recycling and sustainability. In order to show Governments, Companies and communities how our project was the need of the hour we got on board some investors and started installing ‘ReBots’ across the city. Soon, our project got recognition and various stakeholders got in touch with us. We realised that in order for people to know the importance of recycling and circular economy we had to create awareness at a grassroots level, even though our focus was mostly on big cities across India. Once, the project started, we started working with Governments, Schools, Colleges, Municipalities, Tourism hubs, Railway, Airport and Metro Authorities across the country. What made the project successful was the whole system of incentives, where for just one plastic bottle, the customer would get a coupon in return which could be encashed at various points. Even though we were not the complete solution for plastic waste, we definitely were an important part of managing the waste at source which was an integral part of circular economy and recycling. So, far we have worked with big corporations for their CSR and EPR mandates. We really hope to make more difference and come up with more sustainable solutions in the future. Our planet is our responsibility and it’s time we take action towards a better planet for our future generations.
