Ready to be impressed and inspired?!
Here at T&K, we're motivated daily by the kids who use our products and actively seek out knowledge for no other reason than a true love of learning. Today, we want to share about 13-year-old Grayden from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, who, as a result of his genuine interest, curiosity, and unbelievable hard work, was selected to send two experiments to space through the highly competitive (and amazingly cool!),
@cubesinspace program.
Grayden chose to send a Gecko adhesive pad from our Nanotechnology STEM Kit, as well as a nano-adhesive pad from the
#GeckoRun Marble Run Set in a rocket that will launch from
@nasawallops Flight Facility in Chincoteague, VA, at FlightFest 2024 later this month. He chose these items in particular so that he could investigate whether the adhesion properties of these materials could be incorporated into a technology used to collect space debris, an increasing issue for the space industry with no known solutions. Grayden will present his experiment to over 450 attendees at FlightFest, including NASA professionals!
Once the samples return from their space voyage, Grayden will conduct further analysis and will have final data to share this fall. And we'll be sharing updates every step of the way!
To start, take a peek at these pictures to see how Grayden prepared the materials and the different testing methods he'll use to compare the samples that'll fly to space with Earth-based control experiments (adhesion force test, angle test, material compatibility test, and weight test).
Way to go, Grayden! 🥳
