In focus: Physics grad student Imran Sultan wins global photography competition 📸 🌌 Sultan’s work is no easy feat, considering that the subject matter can be thousands of light-years away. His photos recently received two awards in the 2023 @theroyalsociety Publishing Photography Competition’s astronomy category. “I love sharing the wonders of our universe with others through my astrophotography,” says Sultan. The winning image (photo 1) shows the colorful Western Veil Nebula. Runner-up (photo 2) is an image of the May full moon, known as the Flower Moon, through the clouds above Chicago.
