The U.S. Marshals Service has rescued and located 200 missing or endangered children over a six-week period during operation “We Will Find You 2,” the agency announced. The operation focused on several hot spot cities such as Phoenix, AZ and Miami, FL where there were children that went missing. The Marshals worked with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to help find and locate the children they were tasked with finding. U.S. Marshals Service Director Ronald Davis said they’ve run the operation six times previous to this one and so far, they’ve located 546 children in 2024, which is higher than last year at this time, but lower than the nearly 950 recovered in 2021. The number of children they rescued is still “just scratching the surface,” U.S. Marshals Service Director Ronald Davis told reporters. In a blistering dissent, Justice Sonia Sotomayor said the Supreme Court's historic immunity ruling has left her with "fear for our democracy." The 6-3 decision set a broad new definition of executive power as it stated former presidents are protected from criminal prosecution for "official acts" taken while in the White House, though they do not enjoy such immunity for "unofficial acts." The immediate effect is a delay in Donald Trump's 2020 election subversion case while the trial court determines what actions alleged by federal prosecutors are official, and therefore protected, and which are not. Former Pres. Donald Trump is expected to announce his vice presidential pick any day. The three front-runners for the job, according to various reports, are North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Sen. Marco Rubio and Sen. J.D. Vance. With Trump constitutionally limited to serving just one more term as president, if he wins, his vice president would be the expected front-runner for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination. Still, vice presidential nominees actually don't have a very strong record of becoming president — so some people may be overrating the importance of Trump's pick. A Chinese technology company's space rocket accidentally launched during a test on Sunday, with eyewitness video showing it plummeting back to earth and exploding as it hit the ground. There were no reports of any injuries, according to the company.

A truck driver was killed after his 18-wheel truck veered off an expressway and slammed into two cars before crashing into a home Saturday morning in Mission Texas, police said. The house was up for sale and not occupied at the time of the crash, according to investigators. New York State Attorney General Letitia James said her office is launching an investigation into the fatal police shooting of a 13-year-old boy who allegedly pointed a replica handgun at officers during an encounter in Utica. Authorities released footage of the incident from an officer's body camera. A 55-year-old man was killed when some fireworks exploded while he was working in his garage at his Pennsylvania home, state police said. Mass shootings are becoming more frequent during a holiday typically known for fireworks and barbecues, according to a nonprofit that tracks shootings. There were 80 total mass shootings over the past three years between July 1-7, according to the Gun Violence Archive. "What happens around the fourth is you have more gatherings, you have more heat, you have more agitate, and this is the big one ... you have anger and proximity to weapons," the nonprofit's executive director told @abcnews .
