Join us this Thursday for a ride through our new exhibition with the cocurator - Gabriela Matuszewska, who will unveil all the secrets, frozen within the walls. We will explore how Sakha rap is evolving into a space, examine ways of transforming archives, and engage in the practice of collective memory. 🌬️ More about Gabriela: 𝐆𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐬𝐳𝐞𝐰𝐬𝐤𝐚 - is a Berlin based artist and an art curator. Her curatorial practice is rooted in empathy, researching spaces without a space and intangible moments in between. She focuses on redefining art paradigms and involving unrepresented individuals and communities among western structures. For the past decade, Gabriela has been working in the art industry, dividing her practice between Poland and Germany. She is a scholar of Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. For all the visitors of the tour, there will be available a special zin, composed by @thoothieee , to take with you home. ✧@projectspacefestival : Lecture/performance at the opening, 19H @acudclub We are thrilled to introduce to you 𝐀, who stands behind the digital archive, which we are transmuting into the gallery space: Aleksandr is an artist and musician born in Suntar region of Republic Sakha (Yakutia). His practice of digital archivation - Könyl Sïr, that utilizes social platforms as a public space, operates as a form of resistance towards state mandated historization. Going against the grain, A reinserts politics into the forms and methods of self definition in Könyl Sïr, by reformulation of the stories of the Republic post Soviet-fall through medium of rap and muses the forms of expression within censored spaces like Russian North. A is an active member of the Yakutsk music scene, and has been involved in such bands as Drones, Oblaka, Sulus etc. Image credits: Könyl Sïr archive Curated by Svetlana Romanova @thoothieee Cocurated with Gabriela Matuszewska @sztukamierna Head of production: Carolina Redondo @cascola The event will be documented photographically. #archive #yakutia #berlinprojectspace #projectspacefeatival #sakha #sakharap #berlinkunst #berlinartist #berlinart #contemporaryart #artprojectspace #artopening #kubaparis #kunstinberlin #artgallery #postcolonialism

How it came to be - what has influenced it? We want to locate the momentum of its creation within the current “time-space” context. We want to utilize Sakha rap as a form and as a material to help us formulate the past, present and possible future of Yakutia. Svetlana Romanova will share with the audience her body of research on the postcolonial reality of the Indigenous people of Yakutia and the artist - ,,A” will continue with a video-performance, breaking down some lyrical aspects of the most important songs/artists work, while drawing parallels to the political events that were occurring in Republic Sakha. Thank you @projectspacefestival for the support. 15H - 19H To redefine the interconnectedness of the cultures, regardless of the borders, countries and languages, the exhibition offers a different expression of the circumpolar worlds. The one that is closely tied to the factual reality of things, to the sensibilities, cultural codes and aesthetics of the communities. In order to escape the innateness of exotification and trajectory of relation through the unknown, especially within sensitive settings like exposition of arctic world to the european gaze, we are presenting an installation that would seek the rigor not in the explication of otherness, but in the relationality of knowledge formation territories and it’s aesthetics. We approach Könyl Sïr (a digital public space, where A shares his knowledge and research of Sakha Rap) to reflect on current global issues by materializing a portal between the archive and the gallery space. Könyl Sïr translated from Sakha means land of freedom. Könyl stands for free and untamed, and Sïr means land, space and earth. In this land/space, where freedom comes in the form of sounds that are composed of music and spoken language, one can see the idea of homeland being defined. In this space we would like to imagine the autonomous space that “Sakha Rap” is, alongside looking at the forms it took throughout years. 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: ✧Thursday, June 20, 2024, 7pm

Grounded in queer-feminist theory, the role-play centers around transitioning bodies, collapsing worlds and reproductive labour while the sceneries of the Echoing Futures exhibitions become amplifiers to our imaginations. For 𝐀𝐥𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 we will open a time capsule and explore its contents. The worldbuilding takes place in English spoken language and translation into German spoken language is available on request. We will be playing outside, weather permitting. Magdalena Emmerig is a Berlin-based artist and theater maker. Her work is informed by queer-feminist theory and searches for resistant practices in late capitalism. She has been researching neoliberal branding, technology-based self-optimization, contemporary images of masculinity and global contexts of paid reproductive labour. With a focus on immersive formats that enable personal encounters and an affirmative engagement with topics, she develops collaborative forms of artistic research on care and utopias. Magdalena Emmerig has been a founding member of The Agency (2015-2022), whose immersive performances have been shown internationally. echo°o°o - collective worldbuilding will be held for each of the Echoing Futures exhibitions.
