My first ever solo album, Natural Disaster is out today.
In 2020, after Covid canceled all of our Always Tomorrow tours - I realized I was missing something. Myself.
I’ve been “Bethany from Best Coast” for 14 years. That will always be me - we can shed parts of ourselves - but they never fully go away. Every part of who we are follows us on every journey we live in this life. But - I realized that I didn’t feel like Bethany anymore. It was difficult to separate who I was from what I do and I decided I needed to do something else.
I’ve made a career out of being authentic and honest, but I’ve never been as authentic and honest as I am as just Bethany.
This album is the product of putting BETHANY first and allowing myself to evolve. I hope you like it.
Very few things in this life are final. Best Coast will never die. There is no drama and there never will be. Bobb and I are family. Forever. For now, Bethany Cosentino is living and breathing and exploring. I hope you’ll join her (me lol).

hey friends, @bethany_cosentino here (duh). I’m thrilled to share some news with you - I made a solo album. It’s called Natural Disaster and it comes out July 28th. The first song, “It’s Fine” is streaming everywhere now. Produced by the legend, @butchwalker .
The decision to put Best Coast on indefinite pause was honestly not an easy one. I have heavily identified with Best Coast for over a decade, and therefore being anyone but “Bethany from Best Coast” has felt very uncomfortable for me. The last few years have brought about many changes for myself and the entire world - and I decided to push myself through the discomfort of it all and go try out being someone else. This record is a product of that.
This band (and Bobb) mean everything to me, always will - but for now - I need to go explore being just … Bethany Cosentino. Me, myself and I!
Thank you for always accepting me for who I am, even when I wasn’t sure who that was. Best Coast fans are the absolute best (no pun intended) and I hope that you will follow along with me while I embark on this new journey. For all things Bethany - please follow along at @bethany_cosentino

I just want to say thank you so much to those of you that came out to see me @bethany_cosentino play my first ever solo show at @thetroubadour last night.
I know a lot of you are probably wondering what the future holds for Best Coast and guess what babe - I’m wondering that too. The truth is - I don’t know what the future holds for any of us. The only thing I do know is that life is short and we should all be doing exactly what makes us feel alive and happy. I am SO FUCKING GRATEFUL for the love and support you guys have given Bobb and I for nearly 15 years. I wouldn’t have been able to stand on that stage as Bethany Cosentino without what came first. Best Coast. Bobb. All of you.

I played a few Best Coast songs last night solo which is something I’ve never really done before. It was very special to get to play you these stripped down versions - the way I wrote them - just me and a guitar on my bedroom floor. I’ve grown up so much since then, but I honor the girl I once was and I’m so proud of her and her desire to always be expanding and growing.
Best Coast is forever.

Crazy For You turns 13 today.
hard to believe I’m old enough to have a teenager!!!
in the 13 years since this album was born - I’ve lived the most incredible life. Not a day goes by where I don’t stop for at least 1 second and say “what the fuck is my life?” STILL - because of all the things that have happened since this record came out.
you already know I’m *that bitch* so I’ll just say - the fact that our first ever record turns 13 the day before my first ever SOLO record drops (which was not intentional!) - just feels like a little wink from the universe that I’ve done something right. I trusted myself then to drop out of college and start a band, and I trust myself now that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
Crazy For You was never meant to be what it became. I was just a 22 year old lovesick girl writing songs in her bedroom, playing music with her friend. It changed my entire life.
I still don’t fully understand why it resonated with people the way it did - all I did was write about how I felt. I’m glad you connected. And continue to. I’m so grateful.
On the eve of a brand new chapter of my life, I look at the little girl in all the photos from this era and I want to scoop her up and hug her and tell her everything is going to be ok. More than ok. More than fine. She’s created such a big life for herself and she made it through the wilderness of all the messiness that came with success at 22 years old. I’m so proud of her.
And to @bobb_brujo - my brother in rock. I love you so much and I couldn’t have done any of this without you. Thank you for always having my back. You are the most loyal friend and I’m so proud of all we’ve accomplished together 🖤
