SWB – Schweizerischer Werkbund Werkbund Schweiz Suisse Website The Schweizerischer Werkbund SWB is a national association that brings together members from the design and craft professions. Its strength lies in its interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach. From this point of view, it addresses key design, cultural, social, aesthetic and economic issues. We developed the new website in close collaboration with the Board of Directors and the management. The redesign makes strong reference to the great design tradition of the SWB with clear typography, a well-organised but dynamic layout and careful attention to detail. Many contributions are presented as overlays that are layered on top of each other like physical paper. This creates a reference in the digital space to the field of print production, which has always played a central role in the SWB’s 100-year history. The centrepiece of the site is the “Werkbrief” - the digital editorial organ of the SWB. The articles are presented in a varied grid with different sizes, which is also an analogy to a layout in physical space. A special and very playful function is the “colour switch”. A small button at the bottom right of the page that can be used to change the entire colour palette. The individual colours are harmoniously coordinated, but can be easily adapted over time to give the site a fresh new look without much effort. Special Thanks to the Team from SWB @julewolski Monika Imboden and Mathis Füssler. And @roger_burkhard Burkhard for his precise coding. 🔥 More on #swisswebdesign #plain @optimo #2024 #digital #webdesign #wordpress #corporateidentity @werkbundzuerich @werkbund_nordwestschweiz #schweizerischerwerkbund

Cantonale Berne Jura 2023/24 Identity For this year's @cantonale.ch campaign, Bonsma & Reist developed a series of four posters, designed exclusively with the generative text based fill-function of @photoshop The result displays collage-like images representing the four elements of fire, earth, wind and water. The concept is a reference to the current debates about the influence of artificial intelligence as an elementary and creative component of our future. For digital display, the posters were further developed into animated versions, with @runwayapp a video editing software based on AI technology. NCCFN for BSC Young Boys Identity and Art Direction “Young Things – No Thing is Forever” is the first collaboration between the fashion network @nccfn and the soccer club @bscyb_offiziell . The collaboration came about after a failure in production of their home-kit 22/23, which resulted in thousands of unusable jerseys. NCCFN deconstructed and upcycled these garments into a new collection of around 30 different products. Bonsma&Reist are responsible for the identity and art direction of the project, including a monogram that was used as a print pattern in the collection. All garments were fabricated in the Canton of Bern. The collection was a great success, raising awareness of the problem of overproduction in the fashion and sports industry. OOS Architects Website The Zurich-based architecture firm OOS commissioned us with the conception and design of their portfolio website. The new site places a strong focus on the pictorial representation of their buildings. The site is accessed via a generously presented selection of projects. The logo, font and color scheme were taken from the existing brand identity and supplemented with new visual elements (whiteout gradient, micro animations). The various design elements of the site are designed in modules, giving editors the greatest possible freedom when presenting a project. All images can also be displayed full-screen in a gallery – an important feature for showing and explaining projects on a smartphone. Swiss Center for Design and Health Annual Report 2022 . . The Swiss Center for Design and Health is a national technology competency center and a research institution of international significance. At the interface of design and health, it combines interdisciplinary university research and private industry in order to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer. . The second consecutive time SCDH asked us to design their annual report. The report summarizes the year 2022 and communicates their mission to a broader audience. . In 2022, the SCDH has established itself in its new premises in Nidau and is working on a number of projects, all of which can be seen in the timeline in the report. In addition, eight currently important actors and teams are portrayed. These testimonials underline the singularity of the research project. . This year's annual report offers insights into the ongoing projects in and around its new location, at industrial Hangar in Nidau Biel/Bienne. The report shows how the SCDH encompasses research, instruction and further education through competent practical mentorship, from the development of an idea, to prototyping, and market launch. . The report contains 7 portraits of key players and partners in the fields of design and health, explaining the importance and uniqueness of the Center from the point of view of their profession. . The report is printed in three colors (DE/EN/FR). . More on bonsmareist.com . . @design_and_health #2023 #publication #annualreport2022 #apax @optimofoundry #ediprimag #swissgraphicdesign

Martina-Sofie Wildberger P-Pants . For the exhibition "City of Zurich Art Grant 2023" at Helmhaus Zurich, Martina-Sofie Wildberger presents the Feminist Alpine Club: "… A project that began in 2017 as a hashtag under photos of her high altitude tours on Instagram and addresses the "disappearance" of women on the mountain. The artist sees mountaineering as (self-)empowerment and the high mountains as a space where gender conventions can be overcome. As an example of the FAC's activities, the P-Pants, a sports pants prototype tailored to the needs of women on the mountain, can be seen at the Helmhaus. Thanks to a end-to-end zipper at the right place, pee break is done in a flash - even in the climbing gear, i.e. without having to put oneself in mortal danger…" (Excerpt from the Exhibition handout). . Together with Martina-Sofie Wildberger we developed a pseudo-brand and did the art direction of a fake advertising-campaign for the P-Pants. The series of five F4 posters is installed as a staged billboard-wall in the exhibition and simulates the commercial communication of the brand to the (art-)public. The logo/sticker "FAC" – also specifically made for the occasion – introduces to the Feminist Alpine Club as the umbrella organization and was distributed during the opening event. . The exhibition runs until 17.9.2023 @helmhaus_zuerich . photos campaign: Peter Baracchi photos exhibition: Zoe Tempest typeface: Rapid from @sourcetype print posters: @uldry_ch . . #identity #Campaign #2023 #F4 #swissposters #posterdesign @masowild @feministalpineclub

Theo Gerber Science Fiction . Design of the catalogue for the exhibition “Theo Gerber – Science Fiction”. The publication shows Gerber’s complete oeuvre in chronological order, three accompanying text contributions classify his work biographically and historically. . In order to make Gerber’s detailed oeuvre comprehensible in the book, greatly enlarged excerpts of the paintings are reproduced on full-page margins. Distributed throughout the book, they give the publication a surprising dramaturgy and encourage readers to change their distance from the page. It is almost as if one were to step closer to the work in the exhibition. . The expressive font in the title refers – in addition to formal references to Gerber’s paintings – to the time of his greatest creative period and was inspired by an exhibition invitation found in the archive. . THE MUSIC IS THE MAKING OF THE MUSIC – An ongoing conversation about a design practice grounded in co-existence . Thrilled to announce that @dimitrireist is one of the winners of the category "Design Research" at the Swiss Design Awards 2023. . In his ongoing research Dimitri is interested in a shift of conversations about design away from form, to a more process oriented, and more sustainable one. One that takes the political and social responsibility we carry as graphic designers seriously. . How can one as a graphic designer, shift and relearn understandings of visual knowledge towards the social political context each of us is living in? And can this eventually lead to a more inclusive, co-existing, community-based and social-political reflective praxis? . He started exchanging with peers with different backgrounds about the conditions in which they create work, and how these circumstances shape their daily practice, their methodologies, their ideas, and how in the end these are materialized in their visual language. . The project has become an ongoing conversation, in which Dimitri wants to build a practice of care and knowledge-sharing that helps each other understand how we can partake in a meaningful change, by challenging the dominant western idea of design. Creating a space for pleasure in co-existence. . Forward-Rewind 20-Years Konus Quartett Identity, 2023 . Precise-minimalist sound that turns places into spaces: in its 20 years of existence, the Konus Quartet has specialized in the latest contemporary and experimental music. . We were commissioned to develop the key visual for the 20th anniversary festival. . Based on the name “Konus” we developed a series of posters with four cone-forms representing the quartett. The shapes are arranged in different compositions and the linear realization reflects the precice-minimalistic musical quality of the quartet. . The linear realization allows the poster to be animated by two frames according to the title Forward - Rewind. - At the same time an optical illusion is created, so that the cones seem to rotate around their own axis. . . @konus_quartett @uldry_ch @grillitype #gtmaru #swissposter #swissposters #identity #swissgraphicdesign #2023

Applied Utopia – NCCFN Group Identity 2023 . NCCFN (short for Nothing Can Come From Nothing) is a network of people – designers, artisans, and cultural workers that has been working on urgent social issues in an interdisciplinary way through textiles, photography, and applied arts since 2017. . Earlier this month, the first major solo exhibition "Applied Utopia" by the collective NCCFN opened its doors at Kunsthaus Teufen. The show emerged out of an intense period of process-oriented creation, entirely designed in the exhibition-space itself. . The exhibition puts a special focus on the collective's own creative process and aims to do just this: apply utopias. The theme here is not only the output of the works, but also the process that leads to collaborative projects. Thus, supposedly valueless things are transformed, rearranged and collected and the handling of utopian ideas is relentlessly documented and reflected in a parodic way. It displays a tangible document of time that shares memories, raises questions and invites visitors to reflect on their own consumption and actions in the fashion industry. . Together with the collective, we were involved in the conceptual process of the exhibition and designed the identity as well as the implementation of various visual elements of the exhibition. . The exhibition will run through June 4, 2023, and will be accompanied by a rich program of events, offering visitors the opportunity to explore in depth the important issues that the NCCFN is addressing in their work. . SIKJM Website . The Swiss Institute for Children’s and Youth Media SIKJM commissioned us to fundamentally overhaul their very comprehensive but outdated website. A lot of their content was hard to find and got lost in the large amount of information. . We developed a module-based system that allows the authors to present even very text-heavy pages in an attractive and readable way. The colored backgrounds can be selected based on four defined themes, and then automatically apply across the entire page. . The heart of the new site is the database with over 3000 book reviews on children’s and youth literature. The publications can be filtered according to various parameters (e.g. author, age recommendation, keywords). The database thus becomes a powerful tool and a very attractive resource for various target groups of the Swiss Institute for Children’s and Youth Media SIKJM. . The site is published with independent content for the three language regions German-speaking Switzerland (De), French-speaking Switzerland (Fr) and Italian-speaking Switzerland (It). .
