We’re excited to announce a brand-new exhibition coming to the Museum this fall, Sensorium: Stories of Glass and Fragrance. ✨🌺🕯️✨
From the very beginnings of glassmaking, glass vessels have been created to hold and diffuse fragrance. The unique properties of this material – its impermeability, inertness, and beauty – lent itself particularly well to the purpose of encapsulating a substance as fleeting and precious as scent.
Opening in September 2024, this exhibition will explore the multiple relationships between glass and fragrance, including – but also going beyond – the history of perfume bottles.

This Thursday, join our Junior Curators at the Museum for a special Connected By Glass event, where they will take us through their interpretive journey in a behind-the-scenes look at their curatorial process of the all-new exhibition, Glass in the Gray Zone of Censorship.
These students have dedicated their after-school time to create this wonderful exhibit which will be displayed on the Museum’s West Bridge. ✨

“It was a great experience to collaborate with the Hot Glass Team on this sculpture. It was inspired by a volunteer who suggested the butterfly theme, and by a young resident named Carrie Cook. We are pleased to announce our partnership with the Corning Museum of Glass for the 8th edition of #SeattleArtFair ✨
This collaboration will feature a pop-up exhibition from @corningmuseum ’s ‘𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘎𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘴 𝘙𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 43,’ showcasing 100 innovative glass projects from around the world. Curator Tami Landis has invited select Pacific Northwest artists from the review to display their work, highlighting the region’s technical innovation and creativity in contemporary glass.
