newly acquired, BlaBlaBla (necklace), 2022, by Italian artist Monica Cecchi, made of cut up and reassembled vintage tins.
Cecchi’s work explores our relationship to technology, connectedness, and an oversaturation of words, images, and ideas that surround us daily. “Blablabla,” in the Italian spelling, is used to refer to something which is boring or without meaningful content. Bold, colorful, but also with a feeling of being overbearing, the artist playfully comments on the exasperation of being exposed to everything, all the time, thanks to social media 💥
