Dr. Skyler's distinguished career in diabetes research spans over five decades, during which he has held various leadership roles, including Director of the Division of Endocrinology Diabetes & Metabolism at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. His contributions to landmark clinical trials, such as the NIH (NIDDK)-sponsored Diabetes Prevention Trial - Type 1 (DPT-1) and Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet, have significantly advanced the understanding of T1D and paved the way for innovative treatments.
As Deputy Director for Clinical Research and Academic Programs at the Diabetes Research Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Skyler continues to drive progress in diabetes research and treatment. His appointment to SAB's Board of Directors further underscores his dedication to advancing therapies that can positively impact the lives of individuals living with T1D.
