Tonight, the @vangoghmuseum will open its doors for their monthly night event, ‘Vincent on Friday’. 

We have been invited to curate the evening and are very proud of the program we have put together with various wonderful artists and creators. Expect music, art, performances, a workshop and talks from 7 PM to 11 PM. In addition to our curation, you can also check out the Van Gogh Museum’s own program and exhibitions. Last year October we were deeply honored to invite Susanne Khalil Yusef to the @echoboxradio studio. Recorded amid the current g£n0c!de in P4I£st!n4 this episode focuses on the difficulties of migration and Susanne’s experience of returning to her P4l£st!n!4n homeland to study at the art academy of R4m4ll4h. Our Diaspora member @_______matta_______ joined the table to speak about the current repression of the P4l£st!n€ Solidarity movement in Germany, the country where Susanne was born, and the sad ‘complexity’ of both Dutch and German media coverage, and discourse on the conflict. Although her work is not welcomed in all public art spaces, Susanne’s neon light installation Bidnan3eesh (بدنا نعيش , WE WANT TO LIVE), which is an homage to her friend Khalil from G4z4, was recently shown in W139. Tomorrow, you can get these t-shirts (slide 1-3) made by a dear friend of ours in Berlin (Westerstraße 168) from 12 to 17hr. All proceeds after production costs will be donated to ‘Berlin Legal Fund’ (an initiative by @_______matta_______ & @nomisladko ). This fund serves as of a crucial lifeline for the communities in Berlin, providing legal and financial support/representation, to combat colonial violence and systemic racism and hold those responsible accountable. The ongoing racist police brutality in Berlin, shows yet again the pressing need for initiatives like Berlin Legal Fund. Our dear friend @m4h4rb4 created gold embroidered long-sleeve shirts (slide 4 & 5) to help out the fund as well. These can only be ordered directly through him, so slide in his dm. This auditory journey endeavors to resonate with spatial injustice, as articulated by diaspora artists sharing their narratives. Contemplating the existence of artistic freedom, the artists will delve into the role of Amsterdam's community in facilitating access to free spaces for marginalized groups. Han Goshnaw (he/him) | @diasporaradioams | Amsterdam, Netherlands 🎧 After having contributed to the Diaspora Radio platform before by doing a radio show and hosting an event, Han returns as co-curator for this session. 🎛️ Already experienced in hosting and organizing panels with a focus on music and culture, he'll bring his perspective as a Kurdish migrant and part of the local scene in Amsterdam. Hani Rahsepar (he/him) | @diasporaradioams | Amsterdam, Netherlands ✊🏽 Born in Iran and raised in the Netherlands, Hani has been working in the culture and music industry for over a decade. Due to the lack of representation both in the workplace and among attendees, and the great need for a community where diverse and unheard stories can be emblematic of its members, he started the radio show 'Diaspora Radio' almost two years ago, along with co-founder Moody Mehran. 📀 That’s how a monthly @echoboxradio show started, inviting professionals from creative industries to talk about their experiences as SWANA-diaspora in their workplaces and their growing up process as individual representatives of the diaspora, exchanging stories that are unique to children of migrants/political and war & conflict refugees. DIASPORA RADIO MIX-SERIES The London born with Punjabi roots, 5RVZ (@five.rvz ), is now based in Amsterdam, “questing connections between dots of hip hop and electronic music”. You can tell Raj’s influences are pretty much sowed under the UK-grime fields, and he literally breaks down drum & bass made polymers into new synthetic-chains of intellidance atoms. As an obscure initiatory passage, he fades back and forth erratic progressions, from furious neurocore tempos til’ lower and sinister dub n’ trapstep junglism. His sound feels really like an acid addiction to dark footwork patterns, cause both his selections and productions make all your body cells pulse though the loop of repetitive unsolved structures. In this 22nd episode we were honored to invite @jiyanduyu into the @echoboxradio studio. The nostalgic Dutch/Kurdish visual maker takes us with her through her childhood memories where her creative mother imitated Michael Jackson concerts and Jiyan captured every bit of her life with a handycam. We speak about the importance of family, film landscapes and her recent time in Diyarbakir where she captured the mundane moments of a catastrophe we know as the earthquakes of February 2023.
