Today I am sharing a mix I’ve been working on for a while that I’m very proud of!!
Around January, I became interested in making a mix around the concept of “timelessness” in club music after deep-diving the catalogues of legacy electronic music labels like Minus, Blue Print, Submeditation, Delsin, Warp etc. After trying a few more focused directions that explored this idea, the result is a mixed bag of varying tempos, unconventional time signatures, sprinkled with some early dance music that holds up alongside (and sometimes surpasses) the amazing stuff that is coming out now. And most of all, it’s a survey of tracks and artists that are my all time favs / inspired me to start trying this stuff in general. While I’ve loved club music for a while, I still feel new to DJing, and the struggle to find a perspective that’s not too directed by music-finding apps has been real. The final product is just a mix at the end of the day, but the process of making it has helped me gain trust in myself that I hope comes through :’)
