Kahit sa manok, ganito kami mag-Tinola, we use Napa Cabbage and Sayote, at kung merong available, we add Green Beans as well. Ang ginawa ko lang para flavorful talaga is sinama ko yung luya at tanglad sa pressure cooker. Medyo mahal lang ang luya ngayon, pero kung kaya naman, damihan niyo na. Ang sarap humigop ng mainit na sabaw na may konting anghang from the luya. Throwback to September 2019 when we celebrated mom’s 70th birthday at @sofitelmanila . Now that the hotel is closing its doors (today is their last day of operation), all I have is gratitude for giving us a top notch experience, and a memory we won’t forget. Bihira mag-request ng food ang kapatid ko, so when she requested na mag-Kutsinta naman kami for brunch, agad ko naman ginawa, and I partnered it with Puto para pair talaga. Na-experience niyo ba yung may dumadaan sa street niyo nagpo-potpot? Hahaha. Medyo firm lang ‘yung nagawa kong Kutsinta, pero masarap naman at nakuha yung chewiness na gusto ko. Maybe next time babawasan ko yung lye water para chewy yet soft pa rin. Also, tinimpla ko na yung Good Day coffee na binili ng sister ko at ipinamigay sa mga IU fans the time we attend a Cup Sleeve Event. Taste Test: Yoppoki Jjajangbokki This one we love a lot, the sauce was flavorful and it went well with the Rice Cakes, but eating it, we felt the need of cooking noodles so all that sauce won’t go to waste. Big thanks to our dear neighbor for sending all these food as her gratitude gift because my sister and I send over food for her family while she was at the hospital. We’ve been neighbors since the mid-80s, we practically treat each other as family now. Anyway, these are from Janet’s (formerly Janet’s Pares House), a well known food place in Lagro, QC. We ate the Chopsuey for dinner, and ate the rest for brunch the next day. • Chopsuey - not the usual dish seasoned with oyster sauce, this one also had pork as its main protein. We liked it, but the addition of squid balls and kikiam altered the taste a bit. • Pancit Palabok - it tasted like the ones sold along the street, but way better. • Asado Siopao - had a strong anise flavor, but we loved this because it had a lot of meat filling. • Siomai - the one we loved the most; it had a unique taste, and super flavorful. Though the dishes weren’t 5-star quality, we liked that it tasted homecooked. A week ago, my sister, my inaanak, and I had a nerve-wracking experience trying to secure tickets for @d.o.hkyungsoo ’s fan meeting / concert. My inaanak is the biggest Kyungsoo fan I know and she prepared for this, so my sister and I really wanted her to see her ult idol. My sister stayed at home to try securing tickets online, while my inaanak and I went to SM Fairview. It was my first time to line up as early as 6am for a concert ticket, and it was a thrilling experience. In the end, it was my sister who got to secure tickets first (she was able to checkout 3 minutes after the selling opened). Before going home, we ate lunch at @mama_lous first, and we had: • All Meat Pizza - the server gave us some alfalfa sprouts and suggested we eat our pizza with it and a drizzle of honey, and it turned out good! The sweetness of the honey cuts down the richness of the deli meats, but even without it, the pizza tasted good. • Lucio’s Truffle Pasta - the truffle flavor was on point, but me being a person who is not really into cream based pasta (I just wanted to eat truffle flavored food), it took time for me to eat my share. But, if you love cream pasta, I’m sure you will like this. • French Fries - they served this because they said they didn’t have bread. I am not sure if the bread is for the pasta or they serve complimentary bread to every table, but it was such a treat. The fries are flavored (it tasted like that of KFC’s) and can be eaten as is, but the dip offered a wonderful addition to the flavor profile. See you in August, SooSoo!!! Today is a happy day. After 18 months, Jin is finally done with his mandatory Military Service. The months flew by quick, indeed. Sumakto lang na after ko magluto ng brunch, nag-livestream din siya sa Weverse, so I ate my meal with him, the OG “EatJin,” where I got the inspiration for my IG handle. I prepared Mini Luncheon Meat and Cheese French Toast, served with sliced Mango and Cup Noodles to warm the tummy.
