hi everyone!! it’s EC flutist @anjaliflute here for a #fellowfriday check in. 🤩 this week I had a fantastic time performing in @intcontemporary ’s yearly summer festival Ensemble Evolution. 🤘🏽I had the pleasure of premiering an improvised work by @freesongsinger among a beautiful program with other festival artists and ICE musicians!
I started off my summer with a super fun concert with the EC wind quintet in Times Square 🏙️, and continue on next month performing new works at Juilliard as part of their SummerComp program. I’ll also be at the National Flute Convention in August, so say hello if you see me!! 🎶🪈
other than that, I’m spending time soaking in the sunsets 🌅 biking and playing foursquare in the park ⚽️ and going on some weekends home to see my lovely cat (and human family too) 💖
We were thrilled to premiere Natalie Brown’s new piece “insomni/black” as part of our Up Close: Axon performance last March. This summer I’ve got some fun plans both on the horn and off. I’m going to my beautiful home state of Montana soon for some much needed relaxation in the mountains. I’ve got some fun shows around NYC over the summer as well but I’m also looking forward to returning to Ensemble Connect for a second year. I hope everyone is having a relaxing and fulfilling Summer!
Hello everyone, this is EC fellow @ramonviolist and I’ll be starting our summer series #FeatureFriday where we will be sharing what we are up to during the summer.
I am currently in Texas at the Classical Music Institute of San Antonio @classicalmusicinstitute as a member of the Viola Faculty. I have been having fun performing a wide range of chamber pieces like Danny Elfman’s Piano Quartet and Amy Beach’s Piano Quintet. It was my first time playing these pieces and I was grateful to play with an incredible crew. The rest of the summer I will be visiting my family in Florida and later will be performing at the Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival. In August, I will be joining the Toomai Quintet @toomaiquintet for a concert at the Bay Chamber Festival! Besides work, I will try to have a restful summer, hanging with friends, and having fun.
During the spring, we have been bringing Interactive Performances to New York City community venues and schools. Recently, oboist Joe, bassoonist Marty, horn player Ryan, percussionist Oliver, and alum flutist Amir performed for residents at AHRC Howie Stone Day Services, an organization that supports adults with mental and developmental disabilities. Their show explored a key question: How can limitations in music transform possibilities?

We’re thrilled to play an arrangement of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, along with many more orchestral masterworks and woodwind quintets. Earlier this year, we collaborated with Carnegie Hall’s Debs Composer’s Chair Tania León, who curated a one-of-a-kind Up Close performance. More than 11,000 New York City students visited Carnegie Hall with their classrooms for an interactive concert of Link Up: The Orchestra Swings! Led by @danielbartholomewpoyser and @seanyboymusic , students performed from their seats alongside a live orchestra and big band.
