When fear knocks, let faith answer the door. This is definitely not a cliché. This timeless wisdom has been proven true many times over the recent years, reaffirming that great things unfold when we remain steadfast in our hearts and visions despite doubts and fears.
During the pandemic, I made the bold decision to leave my teaching job without knowing what the future held. However, one thing was clear: I needed to create more space and time for my studio practice. There are ambitious projects I yearn to bring to life and countless places I dream of exploring. I am incredibly humbled and grateful that this year has witnessed a significant increase in project inquiries and requests, with some truly exciting opportunities on the horizon. Although I can't reveal specific details about these projects just yet, I can say they are some of the biggest endeavors I have undertaken.
In contemplating my artistic choices, particularly as I engage in highly experimental work, I find myself traversing various disciplines such as painting, printmaking, and installation. I also collaborate with fellow creatives to push the boundaries of my practice even further. Each time I embark on a new exploration, a voice of doubt whispers, "Are you sure about investing so much time and taking this risk?" However, another voice, driven by my inner curiosity, encourages me, reminding me that not pursuing these desires will lead to regret. It emphasizes that growth and discovery can only be achieved by taking the leap. Reflecting on my journey, I recognize how each step has paved the way for the next, and I'm grateful for the pivotal role played by past art residency experiences such as
@kalaartinstitute ,
@metaopenarts ,
@editionbasel ,
@ca_sa_lu , and
@incahootsresidency , to name a few. Now, I eagerly anticipate the upcoming residency
@golden_art_fdn , which I’m traveling to this very weekend.
