I ended up cutting my mum’s hair using my grandma’s scissors in the gallery as part of my installation. It became an open ending a way of continuing the ever-changing matrilineal practice that the women of my family started. •The live performance took place in the gallery. The space remained untouched and the traces of the haircut became part of the exhibition.•Photos by @chiaramentestudio

Album 1975-2023, Hair archives from three generations.•This writing is a collection of memoirs from all the women of my family and the hairdresser they run after 60 years. The hairdresser traveled through different spaces of the house (laundry room, garage, suitcase) always ensuring a space for women’s emancipation.Now I bring forward their ideals in another location, another context and through another discipline.
