🎸The Titan of the Telecaster, @bill_kirchen , reassembles The Lost Planet Airmen at Freight & Salvage to celebrate the release of their new 50-year reunion album, Back From The Ozone. Four original Airmen - Kirchen, Bruce Barlow, Andy Stein, and John Tichy, plus Austin de Lone, Peter Siegel, and Paul Revelli will perform new originals as well as some Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen classics.

Freight & Salvage hosted the first Berkeley Music + Arts Summit on Monday, June 3. Fifteen leaders representing various arts organizations in Berkeley were present for the day-long summit where discussions about funding , the future of the arts in Berkeley, collaboration, and working with the city government was had. The summit was facilitated by Vanessa Reed from New Music USA.
Organizations in attendance included: Freight & Salvage, Berkeley Rep, California Jazz Conservatory, Aurora Theatre, Ashkenaz, Shotgun Players, Berkeley Symphony, UC Theatre, Berkeley Ballet, BAMPFA, Cal Performances, Crowden, YPSO, The Marsh, Cal Shakes, and other arts community leaders.
The day ended with a reception attended by members of the Berkeley City government, arts philanthropists, organization Board members, and other supporters of the arts in Berkeley.

Gladys “Bobi” Céspedes has shaped the rich and lively Afro-Cuban cultural scene in the San Francisco Bay Area for close to 50 years, as a leader, singer, musician, and composer. Her music combines Cuban folkloric and modern elements in an authentic and distinctive sound guiding audiences through a journey from Yoruba incantations to the Cuban Son. Along the way she shares stories of family life and love, and the teachings found in Afro-Cuban folklore and fables.
