🚨Governor Newsom's revision of the 24-25 California Budget includes a $10M cut to the California Arts Council and the elimination of the $12.5M to launch the Performing Arts Equitable Payroll Fund. Fulcrum Arts is honored to announce that we have been selected as one of 15 recipients of this year's Organizational Support Grants from the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts! 2023 Fulcrum Incubator Artists-in-Residence @marekranis talks about his collaboration with @maja.godlewska on their upcoming project "Mare Liberum, Reimagined". During her 2023 Fulcrum Incubator Residency, artist @marieluce.nadal conducted research with Dr. Joshua Fisher, Climate Scientist and Professor at Chapman University. Her project "S.O.S (The Skin Of the Sky)" attempts to create a protective armor using data from lightning and thunderstorms, which have now become increasingly common due to climate change. Fulcrum Arts presents “Alba Triana: Fundamental Insignia” by curator Patrick J. Reed, a deep dive into the world of Colombian artist Alba Triana’s visionary sculptures. Focusing on her installation “Harmonic Motion (2021)“, honored by the prestigious Prix Arts Electronica in 2023, the essay delves into how Triana’s works explore the fundamental vibrations shaping our universe, enticing the audience to ponder the essence of existence itself. ‘“I believe that we have the need to connect with our essence,” she said, “and we have different strategies [to do so]. There’s music. There’s meditation. There are rituals. I believe that connecting with our essence can help us expand our consciousness. Marcos Lutyens @marcoslutyens explores new possibilities for the soon-to-be decommissioned oil rigs off the Southern California shore during his 2023 Fulcrum Incubator residency. With research support from Dr. Milton Love and Dr. Ann Bull from the UCSB Marine Science Institute, Lutyens will showcase his findings at the Oceanside Museum of Art at "Transformative Currents: Art and Action in the Pacific Ocean."
