Piece #2 ! &Violin is an ongoing commissioning and recording project of new pieces for violin and other instruments. @galaflagello wrote E Pluribus Unum for me and Kirsten Docter, and it's the second of five pieces in this volume that I'll be releasing over the next few weeks. This piece responds to the former motto of the United States, and it encourages us to think about how we might live by its directive of camaraderie, cooperation, and understanding. It has one of my favorite openings, and I love how @slypupproductions filmed the dialogue between Kirsten and me. Thank you again to @perkoperc for his leadership and encouragement through this production, and to the University of Michigan's School of Music, Theatre & Dance for supporting research like this for me and my faculty colleagues. An inspiring and rejuvenating trip up and down the eastern seaboard last month! 🚗 🌎 These two weeks were a beautiful blur of music-making and friendship: 1-3: @hubnewmusic and the @rowanuniversity Wind Ensemble played the daylights out of my concerto, “The Bird-While”! Huge thanks to @jhigggins for curating such a fulfilling residency, and to my mom, dad, and grandma for being my superfans 🐦 4: @ashleykillam and @heysamantharose are unmatched bringers of joy, snark, and laughter 💁‍♀️ 5: @_allisonchu and I will haunt a bookstore and a wine bar consecutively like no other nerds you’ve met 📚 6-7: the @theharttschool saxes, @carriekoffman , and my Bolero Buddy @hannah.b.hickman were a warm and welcoming crowd for commissioning chats and concert community 🎷 8: honoring Glen.
