🇳🇿Introducing Shiraz Sadikeen (@shiraz.zz ) from New Zealand 🇳🇿who will be undertaking a residency at Gasworks from 30 September - 16 December 2024! Shiraz Sadikeen makes paintings and sculptures that mediate their own conditions of production and reception. Often made using ready-made or found materials, as well as various processes of abstraction and formal displacement, Shiraz’s work explores the associations between these objects and the situations from which they originally derive. During his residency at Gasworks, Shiraz will research the current political, economic and ideological circumstances of the United Kingdom, reflecting on its changing relationship to Aotearoa New Zealand. Shiraz Sadikeen’s residency is supported by the Jan Warburton Charitable Trust, private individuals who contribute to New Zealand Friends of Gasworks, the British Council Aotearoa New Zealand (@nzpacificbritish ) and the Pacific and Emma Lewisham (@emmalewisham ) and is organised in partnership with Stephanie Post. We look forward to welcoming Shiraz in September! Find out more about his practice through the link in our bio. @jewarb @britishcouncil @brit_visualarts @coastal_signs_ @treadler_gal
