So thrilled to announce that I will be co-curating an all queer and trans show, Design Dysphoria @designdysphoria as apart of @nycxdesign along side this gay ass dream team 😍 Brooklyn, NY | May 17, 2024 – DESIGN DYSPHORIA, a queer designer-led exhibition of 17 architects, artists and designers will open in Bushwick, New York on May 17, 2024 during NYCxDesign. Co-curated by designers and founders of Studio S II @studio.s.ii Erica Sellers @erica.sellers_ and Jeremy Silberberg @jeremysilberberg , textile artist Liz Collins @lizzycollins7 , and interdisciplinary glass and performance artist, Grace Whiteside @getstickyglass the exhibition emphasizes the cruciality of queer creative spaces to highlight how they inform LGBTQIA+ art and design. While the queer community is intimately intertwined with the environments it constructs and inhabits, there continues to be a need and opportunity to establish new places that prioritize queer voices and comradery. Filmed by @dean_doesit and @taywhiteside Edited.by: moi and @k80sadler Glass Puppeteers:  Ember Ashley Kole Bennett Lyncia Berry Lindsay Horne Michael Mills Ian Shishido Jordan Stearns Alyssa  Radtke Jaclyn Ritter Julia Rogers Ece Tansel Originally commissioned by the Chrysler Museum of Glass, The Inflatables: Meet the Cast is an ongoing performance series and experimental puppet show that anthropomorphizes the material character of molten glass. Borrowing from familiar frameworks such as reality television dating shows and Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, this work introduces a cast of molten glass characters that are chosen to participate in a dating experiment. In the style of a 70’s dating game show, 12 glassblowers turned puppeteers introduce each character to a live audience, accompanied by a thematic song and narrations that announce the desires and personality traits of each puppet. This work is a part of a larger series that tells stories of complicated love, dysphoric identities, and the integrity of queer and trans space amidst threat of legislative erasure.
