Three incredible years at Hopkins has transformed these residents. It has taken these phenomenal people from their very first intubations and IVs, to world-class, best-in-the-country attending anesthesiologists. Most of all, though, it has transformed them from colleagues to family. In a few short weeks, they will disperse all over the country (and world)…bringing their skill and dedication and passion to very lucky health systems. These formative years will carry with them wherever they go, and the friendships they created will build a network to call on whenever they need. We will miss them SO MUCH, but we are so proud of their accomplishments and thrilled for their future. Proud to Present the Johns Hopkins Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine Graduating Class of 2024 💙💛🎓

How it started ➡️ How it’s going Hopkins uses a buddy night float system to cover all the overnight emergencies. A CA1 and CA2 are paired for two weeks of great learning…from aneurysm ruptures to traumas to sick sepsis patients and more. As we get closer to transitioning to our new roles in July (and meeting our new friends!!) CA1 Jimmy Sowers and CA2 Alexis Motz spent their time on nights learning the ropes of their soon-to-be responsibilities as a CA2 and CA3. At the start of the rotation, Jimmy came to every CODE and emergent airway with Alexis to watch the flow. By his last shift, he was carrying the CODE bag himself! We are so excited for July ⭐️

Introducing our 2024-2025 CHIEF RESIDENTS! Drs. Jake Blum, Samantha Roche, and Brandon Barrett These phenomenal physicians have accepted the honor and duty of leading the residency program this coming academic year. Where to start with Jake Blum? He is Hopkins iconic, and his ability to take a joke is almost as good as his perfect comebacks. He has been a star since day one, and when he’s around, you know things are going to be okay. Can’t imagine residency without him, he is a great example of what makes Hopkins people the best of the best. Samantha Roche is a former surgeon who recognized the light and joined us in anesthesia, and MAN are we glad she did. She is simply the GOAT. Professional in everything, calm and collected, precise and accurate, all with a smile. Oh, and did we mention she’s a mom? Like I said, GOAT. Brandon Barrett can best be summed up in one word: cool. Sauntering in with his Venti latte and a smile, you know he is going to nail everything he does that day. Down to earth and always willing to lend a hand, Brandon embodies Hopkins culture. Could we ask for better chiefs? Thank you so much to these incredible people for stepping up to the challenge and leading us next year. You are going to be outstanding.

Immersed in innovation on college day with our anesthesiology residency sim center! Beyond traditional OR drills, our sim center pushes boundaries. From VR workshops to real-life scenarios, our residents are honing skills like never before. Thanks to @vantarivr our residents got to train virtually on chest tube placement before moving on to an in person mannequin simulation drill. At Hopkins we’re shaping the future of resident education. #SimCenterExcellence

Dr. Gillian Isaac - unbelievably brilliant, fiercely devoted to her family, a champion of residents, a heart overflowing with kindness, a true gift to every one of her patients - we were not ready for you to be gone. Today we memorialize a life that was truly spectacular, a life that touched every single member of the Hopkins anesthesia family. Everything and everyone she came across was made better for knowing her. She was REAL - she knew what was important, and helped us all better understand what it means to be truly whole. We know that beyond Hopkins, her Keyword Podcasts probably impacted you, too. She has likely helped thousands of residents pass their board exams, and leaves behind an incredible legacy of the next generation of anesthesiologists. We will miss her more than words can describe. Thank you for everything, Gillian. Thank you for everything.
