Now that most kids are on break from school, it’s time for more fun in the sun ☀️ But more time outside can expose kids’ eyes to harmful ultraviolet (UV) light.
So, what can parents do to protect against sun-related eye damage? Make sure kids wear a well-made pair of sunglasses 😎
Consider the following tips from @wilmeratjhm when it comes to choosing the best pair:️
1️⃣ Look for lenses that provide 99 to 100 percent protection from UVA and UVB or marked as having a UV400 rating.
2️⃣ Choose sunglasses that fit well, stay in place, and completely cover the skin around kids' eyes to minimize light that enters from the top, bottom, and sides of the lenses.
3️⃣ Sand and water are reflective surfaces that increase UV exposure. If you’re spending time on the beach or in the water this summer, consider buying sunglasses with polarized lenses.
If you’re uncertain about the best sunglasses for your kids, be sure to contact your eye care professional 🕶
