Ikävä Pii is a musician, producer and DJ exploring abstract and detailed club-adjacent music.  Driven by a playful approach to sound-design and unconventional structures, their tunes have been released on @earlyreflex , @pampsychia_editions , @dreaming_vinyl and @flippendisks , and supported by some of the most daring DJs in the leftfield scene worldwide. Ikävä Pii’s live show is an ever-changing flow of slowfast music, informed by their productions and very own method. Imagined like an alphabet to be deployed in different ways, the set hinges on abstraction and improvisation to challenge preconceived notions of what dance music can be. 1 year! of weird sounds! with @niche.ldn ! Never dared dreaming this, but our little ecosystem has been growing for a whole year now. The strangest music and most wonderful encounters have shaped our Niche, and now we are ready to celebrate in our cocoon - @the.bath.house.hw 🍄 June 15th, midday to midnight. I’ll be closing with a DJ set in Room 1. Saturday’s exploration will feature many amazing artists who have applied to this year’s open calls, plus good friends from the community. The event kinda organised itself, everyone was so good we just had to have them all on! I’m merely facilitating :) I don’t think I’m a promoter - even “curation” is a bit of a dirty word hehe Connecting people through sound and solidarity is the most important aspect for me, and I always do whatever I can to platform folks that have incredible ideas but often get little space. So many firsts in a year…many debuts, experiments, many “fuck it I’m gonna do it”, so many friends who asked me to try it at Niche; bands started, projects kicked off. And so many minds blown in the process 😈 I want this to stay true to the idea of a laboratory. You will never not see people doing weird, unapologetic, challenging shit at Niche. It’s honestly SO beautiful. We can still grow in scale a bit (tell your friends, come on!) but we’re very close to becoming self-sufficient and effective (keep going back to @_emmalwarren_ idea of growing in depth <3 ). We’re creating a small economy (as in “a way to manage our habitat”) and a framework where market-driven dynamics matter less: we take care of our niche together, and we collectively take the responsibility to make things work out. When we were in financial distress, many of you have jumped in and helped with donations. When it was needed, you showed up and supported. Will you do the same this time? ticket sales have been a bit slower. Most of you (around 60%!) usually get a ticket on the day, or get one OTD.
