Directions👇🦋 1. Start by finding a stretchy fabric and matching thread. You’ll also need a tank top that you like the fit of. 2. Trace the tank top onto the fabric with about 1.5 cm seam allowance. Cut out two identical pieces (one front and one back piece. 3. Sew both sides of the top together, right sides facing together. I used a zig zag stitch because it works well with stretchy fabrics. A zig zag stitch is pretty stretchy so you can use the top without having the seams rip open 4. Hem the top and the bottom of the top, and find an elastic band. My elastic was about 7-8 cm. 5. Now time for the ruching. Sew and backstitch the first 0.5 cm of the elastic to the top. Stretch out the elastic when sewing the rest of the band to create the ruching. Make sure to backstitch the end. (I used a single straight stitch for sewing the elastic down, cause I found that a zig zag stitch didn’t give the same ruching effect) And that’s it! New design🤍 I had some leftover linen from a previous project and I thought I would try to make another top! I had a design in my journal that I wanted to try, and the fabric matched the design pretty well🫶 After I designed the pattern, I took my measurements and cut it the pieces. This is a very simple pattern. All you need is a rectangle, a square, and fabric to make the straps. New summer top!🌸 Last week I was at a flea marked with some friends, and we found two pink flower curtains that were perfect for a summer top that I had drawn earlier. I made my own pattern for this top, which was a little difficult because it’s more advanced than what I’ve previously made. Plus, to make sure the top stays in place, the measurements of each part needs to be accurate. I actually used plastic wrap and tape to make the pattern. I taped around my waist and chest (with plastic wrap underneath) and drew how I wanted the top to look like with sharpie. Then I pulled it off and cut out the pieces. I’m not 100% happy with it, but I learned a lot while making it, both when designing, sewing and constructing. So maybe I’ll remake it one day and make it even better🫶 I one curtain for this top, so I could maybe make a matching skirt? Or a pair of shorts? New bubble bag!!🤍☀️ This is a round bubble crochet bag I made for my mother. She showed me a picture of a gorgeous hand bag, and asked if I could try to replicate it for her. And it was a success!! I crocheted this bag with an 8 mm hook, and macrame yarn. It was very different than crocheting with regular yarn, it was a lot heavier. I had to rest my hands after 15 minutes because I got cramps in my wrist, but it was worth it!! I found some big round hoops at Panduro to use as handles, and they work perfectly. I can hold the bag regularly, and also rest it on my elbow. This bag is perfect for summer! For this episode of late night sewing, I was lining a bubble crochet pouch🤍🫧 I think this might be my favorite one yet! And I think I’ve finally perfected the bag. I’ve found the best yarn, crochet pattern, zipper, lining, technique and so on. I‘m going to start selling these in not too long, and I can’t wait!! To make this bag, you need to crochet, and line the bag. I spend about 3-4 days crocheting, and tonight I spent 2 hours sewing, lining, and constructing this bag. It doesn’t take long to sewing the zipper to the fabric, but it’s the hand sewing that is the tedious and time consuming part. But sewing it by hand gives it a really clean look, and you won’t even see the stitches! Haul💌 Pause to read! Today I went to Self Made in Oslo and I bought a few things… I’m most excited about the black micro satin🖤 I’ve sketched out a top in my journal, and I love it so much. Since it’s only a drawing at the moment, I’m going to make a pattern tomorrow, and take my measurements. In may, I’m so lucky that I’m going to Taylor Swifts era’s tour!! There is nothing better that starting a new project (except finishing one)💗 I love casting on the stitches, and seeing progress happen so fast. I’m currently knitting @oyunnkrogh Rubina sweater from @houseofyarn_norway . I’ve seen lots of pictures of this sweater, and it’s absolutely stunning💗 I love that it’s slightly cropped, with wide sleeves! I hope I can knit the sweater as nicely as it looks in the pictures🫶 I also love the yarn, upcycle yarn, which is made from scraps of alpaca yarn. This way, the yarn is more eco friendly🌍 Also, I didn’t even notice that my nails mach the yarn perfectly!
