I'm proud to announce that my newest album 'Rachmaninoff Reflections' will be released on November 10 on @pentatonemusic ! To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Rachmaninoff's birth, I wanted to create a recording that went beyond the more virtuosic showpieces that he's been known for to focus on the deep musicality and sensitivity of his compositions. A few years ago I came across an unforgettable recording in which Sergei Rachmaninoff plays through his Symphonic Dances on the piano for conductor Eugene Ormandy, before Ormandy led the Philadelphia Orchestra in the premiere performance of the orchestral version of the work. This private performance offers a rare and intimate glimpse into the powers of one of history’s great pianists, and an extraordinary insight into the way he intended the piece to be performed. A multimedia collaboration with pianist Inon Barnatan, her recital includes Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene, inspired by her 2023 Grammy-winning album, with a stunning film created by the National Geographic Society, filled with imagery from Cape Horn to the Arctic Circle that illuminates the wonder of our world. This special performance spans the classical, romantic and contemporary eras, through music ranging from Handel to Björk to The Lord of the Rings, exploring nature as both inspiration and victim of humanity. Her repertoire for this program also includes rapturous arias by Massenet and Cilea, along with exquisite songs by Strauss and Hahn.
