This is a big day for America’s Chinatowns! Thanks to @peggy_hernandez@bostonglobe Boston’s Chinatown is on the front page of the food section!! It’s a great article that celebrates Boston’s Chinatown and I love the layout incorporating the gorgeous arch.
When I was invited to speak @umasschefconference on America’s Chinatowns, I decided on the way home I should stop in Boston to check on their Chinatown. I also did an amazing @roundtable.together dinner event “Protecting America’s Chinatowns” @gopagu hosted by @tracypagu This was my first visit to Chinatown since the pandemic and I’d been hearing that the community had not returned to pre-COVID business. It was great to visit Chinatown with @jccraves who leads Chinatown tours. Boston’s Chinatown is so special but like historic Chinatowns across the country it needs our support for it to survive. Thank you to @bostonglobe for the front page coverage and showering Chinatown with much needed love!! I know this piece will do Chinatown a lot of good! My day so far:
1) good workout despite very cranky and uncooperative knee.
2) Finally got to video chat with Mom though she lost the actual Globe food section that I so desperately wanted to share with her (sorry @perenniallydelia !)
3) the new leaf on my fiddle leaf fig is growing so fast!
4) he gets me: hubs leaves me a favorite treat for my post -workout snack
5) very mung cat who is having a rough stretch and required pilling with gabapentin. He has almost forgiven me. Almost.
Gifted this book by one of my oldest and dearest friends. Opened randomly and this poem was the first. #whatisrandom
Missing my mother so much lately. My lifeline is her “Alexa device” which has been great until this week. Wasn’t working, now working but ringing endlessly, unanswered. It’s so fucking hard. My heart goes out to each of you who know this hideous disease. 💜
Trump told more than 30 lies during the debate to go with the more than 30,000 mistruths told during his four years as president. He dodged the CNN moderators’ questions, took no responsibility for his actions, and blamed others, mainly Biden, for everything that is wrong in the world.
Trump’s response to the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection he fueled was farcical. He said a “relatively small number of people” went to the Capitol and many were “ushered in by the police.”
One thing I did today was subscribe to a newspaper THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER for $1 because their editorial board had the courage to tell the truth.
