[2] Scans and details of my thesis „A Flower for a Sovereign State". 🌷 Visual research and investigation into botanical myths, national symbols and narratives. With the initial focus on the Austrian landscape and the environmental contemplation of such — this small publication explores the blurry borders between reality and fiction through the case study of the national flower „Leontopodium" known as Edelweiss.

[4] Never got around making a post out of this but here the last part of my graduation project, which I exhibited at Dutch Design Week last year 📂🌸 Archive of Plant Diversity is an alternative herbarium, a seemingly arbitrary dissection of the flower’s imagery, that has contributed to the construction of a narrative. Historical, political, and personal images are treated as specimens and combined to either reflect on the realities that have been propagated (through romanticism, creation of territory and its advertisement) or/and to demystify the symbol’s arbitrary character of signifying one thing, everything, and nothing. Archive: Fine-Art print 2400mm × 450mm, engraved and silkscreened Acrylic 2500mm × 500mm, with some studies and experiments of dried, conserved and metal-casted Flowers. Type: DaVinci by @virgileflores and GT America by @grillitype Still continuing with the archive for fun, so in case you ever see a symbol of an edelweiss-flower, send me a photo! I’d love to add it 🔎 Thanks to everyone who came by and had a chat with me 💚 and to @antisantiago for being there whenever I was stuck with this project 💚 #archive #graphicdesign #edelweiss #dutchdesignweek

[3] Some snippets from the archive of the visual research I developed for my project „A Botanical Symbol for a National Myth“. 🌷 A Botanical Symbol for a National Myth considers symbols as a means of grounding abstract concepts, thereby producing ways of seeing and acting in the world. The project explores how, through this process, nature has become reduced to a set of images portraying a narrative of pure and unspoiled land, facilitating its commodification. Starting from my own position as an Austrian citizen, the visual culture of the national flower is dissected, to demonstrate how the tension between design and image impacts the way in which people contemplate their surroundings.
