हम आज बेहद खुश और गौरवान्वित हैं। हमारा एक बेटा शिवनाथ ‘रजिस्टर्ड फार्मासिस्ट’ बन गया! 2008 में हमने 9 साल के शिवनाथ खेतिहर मजदूरी से मुक्त कराया था। तबसे उस ने बाल आश्रम में रहकर पढ़ाई-लिखाई की। फिर यूनिवर्सिटी से बी. फार्मा. की डिग्री हासिल की। उसका सपना एम.फार्मा. करने का है। हम उसे पूरा कराके और भी खुश होंगे।

Do you know how the first footprints of ethical consumerism took root? It began in 1990, with our Founder @kailash.satyarthi ’s undeterred determination of ending child labour in the carpet industry.
Launching the first ever consumer campaign against the exploitation of child labourers in the carpet industry was no easy feat. Yet he found unconditional support in a #CompassionateLeader and a dear friend, Rainer Kruse. Soon a child labour free label, RUGMARK, now known as GoodWeave was launched.

Today marks 23 years of the culmination of the 15,000 km nationwide ‘Shiksha Yatra’ (Education March). We demanded that free and compulsory education be made a Fundamental Right in India. As a result of our collective efforts, the constitution was amended in 2002 and the Right to Education act was enacted in 2009. Tens of millions of children in India have been able to receive an education as their right since then.
We have come to meet our most trusted friend, Rainer Kruse, and stay at his home in Stuttgart, Germany. He is 88 years old but incredibly young at heart. I cannot imagine building my worldwide movement against child labour without this extraordinary human being. Sitting in the same room, we discussed, debated, and planned the world’s first-ever consumer awareness campaign along with monitoring, certification, and labelling system known as @goodweave_intl , for products made without child labour.
Rainer was one of the first to subscribe to and support all such dreams in the early 80s when even my family and friends used to mock me. He is one the most compassionate individuals I know and has firmly stood by me through thick and thin.

This significant day marks our collective efforts and progress in the fight against the age-old menace of child exploitation. Here is a peek into how it all began and the milestones we’ve achieved along the way.
From early advocacy and implementation of global policies, to rescue and rehabilitation of lakhs of children, we’ve made substantial strides in protecting children’s rights. Yet, the journey is far from over. Millions of #children worldwide are still subjected to labor, deprived of their childhood, education, and freedom.
Let us continue to envision a future where every child is free to be a child, enjoying their rights to learn, play, and grow in a safe and nurturing environment.
Join our movement, and together, we can create a world where child labor is a thing of the past.
Even as we celebrate #WorldDayAgainstChildLabour today, what strikes a jarring note is that we have failed our children. Though the Sustainable Development Goals were rolled out in 2016, child labour has increased from 152 million to 160 million. The international community cannot fulfill its commitment to eradicate child labour by 2025 until we are honest for our children. We understand the problems and we have also experienced how to solve them. What is urgently required is appropriate funding, education, social protection, and law enforcement measures.
Here is a behind-the-scenes look at our journey to the UK for the 22nd Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers. With me are two inspiring and compassionate youth, Tara and Jitu, who are true champions of education and empowerment speaking up against child labour and child marriage. Their courage shows us that if they can take action for their peers, so can we for our children.

43 साल पहले आज ही के दिन एक चिंगारी जली थी। उसी चिंगारी से बच्चों की गुलामी के खिलाफ हमारे विश्व व्यापी आंदोलन जन्मे। आज के ही दिन हमने पहली बंधुआ मजदूरिन 15 साल की साबो को मुक्त कराया था। मैं उन सभी को प्रणाम करता हूं जिन्होंने दुनिया के बच्चों की स्वतंत्रता के हमारे महायज्ञ में किसी न किसी रूप में अपनी आहुतियां दीं।
