What an incredible day...
For my placings and performance, I'll simply say I'm incredibly happy. Taking second place to the overall winners of the show is something I can hang my hat on and be proud of. Getting separated from the group and battling it out as 2 on the line was an awesome feeling, and we all knew it was going to be a close call going into the night show.
A lot of people have reached out and said, "I should've won those." And although I appreciate that thought, it's just not true. I brought a hell of a physique, no doubt. And I'm really, really proud of that. But Nick and John both did as well, and theirs were just a little more complete overall. It was an honor going to war out there not only with them but with all of the competitors yesterday.
Whether it's "first place" or "last place" doesn't matter, and I told that to a younger kid who was down on himself for no reason... it's about beating who you were yesterday. It's about fist bumps, hugs, and new handshakes with those you respect and go to war with and against. It's about tears of pride and joy, picking one another up. It's about striving to become the best you can be in all areas of life, and the physical body becomes a byproduct of that process. I've got a hell of a lot of respect for every single person who went out there on that stage yesterday... and we should all be incredibly proud of ourselves.
The best trophies I've won in this bodybuilding journey are sitting on my shoulders, walking by my side, and giving me a reason to continue on. It's a woman I've fallen in love with, my family and friends, and the kids I get to coach and inspire. The best trophy's for me aren't numbered placings, and their value is derived from sentiment. We've gotten hundreds of messages in the last 24-48 hours, some from people we don't even know, sending us pictures, and sharing stories about the impacts we've made on them, or their kids. And to me, that means more than any trophy I'll ever get.
I'm also so incredibly proud of Anna for taking 8 first place trophies yesterday 😄
