The Week in Photos (1-7 June 2024)
This week saw the launch of Glasgow International (aka GI or, as I think of it, Gee Aye!), the contemporary art biennial. I have a lot to say but will do so in a separate post. Suffice to say, it has been intense.
1. Other than that, it has been cold and sunny (with occasional showers). Amazing that in June many are still wearing winter coats.
2. As a result of the sun I noticed shadows for the first time in cloudy Glasgow.
3. More shadows on the plastic casing of the Mack.
4. The GSA degree show was good this year. It was lovely to finally meet Panda, who I had a contentious discussion about graffiti with last year.
5. I also liked this cut-out that accompanied an artist’s music video.
6. On Sunday, we popped around to see Alan on his birthday. Here is my attempt at a Dimmickian shot of the man himself.
7. GI started well on Thursday morning with Cathy Wilkes at the Hunterian. Wilkes apparently once owned Alan’s flat.
8. I also enjoyed being in the Susan Philipsz radio car.
9. Lots of Felt fans in the audience for Mozart Estate. I am more of a Denim man but this was the next best thing.
10. I left earlyish (late for me) but it was great to see Brenda.
Listen to @loubuck01 talk about our current exhibition Beyond Surrealism as part of a special episode from @TalkArt focussed on Cork Street.
In this episode, @RussellTovey and @RobertDiament met legendary art critic Louisa Buck for a tour of #CorkStreetGalleries on the occasion of #LondonGalleryWeekend , visiting galleries including Waddington Custot. Listen to the full episode via our link in bio.
#BeyondSurrealism is in its final weeks and continues until 15 June.
