These are just a few of the faces behind the campaign to soon have #MoreLatinosinNews - excited to sport this shirt along with some of my Chicago teammates or periodistas (journalists).
A few months ago I mentioned that Latinos represent about 15% of the faces you see in mainstream media…even as the Latino population continues to grow.
These “Periodista” t-shirts will be available for sale at @officialnahj 40th anniversary convention in Hollywood next month. You can also order them through (Latina-owned!) @shopjzd website. Half of all proceeds will go toward funding NAHJ’s training, internships, scholarships and more.

Well that was fun! Had a chance to moderate a discussion with Luis Miranda - most of you know him as Lin-Manuel Miranda’s dad. Now I understand why they say - “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
Luis is as impressive as his son and recently released the book “Relentless: My Story of the Latino Spirit That Is Transforming America.” For decades Miranda navigated the world of politics in NYC, working for several Mayors and institutions. He details all of it in the book while sharing his personal journey from Puerto Rico to NYC.
