𝑺𝑬𝑩𝑨𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑨𝑵, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒.
Curated by Klaus Biesenbach and Lisa Botti on the occasion of the 60th Biennale Arte.
8 hour duration. Palazzo Malipiero, Venezia.
Five arrows pierced through my skin as i stand on a stone from Lido, rotating at 1 RPM while being caressed by four robot-mounted cameras, capturing my body in slow motion in video and 3D scans. Sugar syrup drips from the ceiling, melting my makeup and accumulating, gradually impairing movement. After eight hours, my mother comes and removes the arrows from my body.
In an adjacent room, a ‘stolen’ relic — a 3D printed scale replica of one of Andrea Brustolon’s most (in)famous blackamoor ebony carvings, 3D scanned and reproduced without permission from Ca’ Rezzonico museum, across the grand canal.

“I’m actually the reason that there’s now a rule at the Louvre that you’re not allowed to stab yourself.”
Canadian artist @miles.greenberg says flesh is his medium and he’s no stranger to pushing his body to the extreme for his art, whether it be standing on a plinth dripping in fake blood, embracing a stranger while naked and blind, and walking on a conveyor belt all day.
