On Saturday, MOCA celebrated its 2024 Gala, presented by Bvlgari, at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Over 1,100 guests experienced vivid immersive elements and environments created by artist #MaxHooperSchneider , who was invited by the museum to provide creative direction for the evening, collectively titled World Without End. GRAMMY-winning artist @St_Vincent also gave a special performance during the seated dinner. Following the dinner, the MOCA Gala After-Party featured DJs #KiloKish and #KittyCa $h. “Larner's sculptural work uses the formal roots of modernism to question traditional notions of space and volume. In her early work, Larner examined issues of transformation and decay in a series of petri dish cultures that she also photographed. Her subsequent installations and sculptures address the way an object defines the space it occupies and transforms the viewer's perception of that space…In 1999 she won a Guggenheim Fellowship. The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles organized a retrospective of her work in 2001. Larner was born in Sacramento, Calif. in 1960. In 1985, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the California Institute of Arts, Valencia. Currently she lives and works in Los Angeles and teaches at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Regen Projects in Los Angeles and 303 Gallery in New York City represent Larner. You guyssss I saw artwork from one of my favorite artists in person today. I was just wondering the other day when I’d ever get to see a Vija Celmins ocean piece and there she was on the walls of @moca . Needless to say I fangirled hard 🥰 I’d love to have one of her pieces in my home one day. (Speaking it into existence ✨) Is there an artist you like and recommend for me to check out?

Free Things to Do in LA: Part 4 The MOCA - Grand Ave. last weekend i dropped by LA’s only artist-founded museum, the MOCA. this museum is dedicated to exhibiting and collecting contemporary art. there are 3 different locations - the one seen in this video is the Grand Ave location. the other LA location, the Geffen Contemporary is a large exhibition space of post-war art. we had a great time exploring this museum and it only took us a little over an hour to view everything, so you can totally squeeze in plenty of other activities in your day! the floor plan was easy to navigate and you can leave feeling like you actually saw all the works that are on display. if you’re in DTLA and looking for something to do, you can buy tickets on a walk-up basis and have very little, if any wait! if you’re an over-preparer like me, you can reserve timed entry tickets ahead of time as well. would you visit the MOCA? #thingstodoinlosangeles #labucketlist #losangelesbucketlist #museumlove #visitlosangeles
