Hailing from Bristol, UK, Mystic State is a tour-de-force in electronic music production, forged from the creative minds of Will Marquiss and Mike Holliday. Their journey began in the world of turntablism during their formative teenage years, leading them to an impassioned dive into music production where Mystic State was born. As artisans of sound, Mystic State is celebrated for their crystal clear productions that are immediately identifiable, marked by a signature blend that captures the essence of late 90’s jungle, dub, and ambient sounds. Their art is a tapestry of audio experiences, woven with film dialogue and meticulously placed samples that evoke a rich, textured soundscape. We are beyond grateful to be welcoming them to @heart_nectar_festival this year! Ok, so pretty late on posting this but it has taken a bit of time to truly process the experience of touring our music the other side of the planet. 🪐 Aotearoa, NZ. Thank you, love to all the people we meet, thank you to the land for sharing its beauty with us and thank you to the people managing the moving parts that helped all the shows come together with such success. We learnt a lot from our time in Aotearoa. The people and their connections to the land, whether they are Native or of European descent have such care and pride for one and other and the country they inhabit which is the truest inspiration to us and that sense of unity is something we should all strive to achieve within our communities. In this borderline-satirical world of grown adults doing ridiculous dances whilst wearing as little clothing as possible to desperately promote their latest release, we simply present you with: a piece of artwork, which in turn represents a piece of music which is very close to our hearts. This is the first single from our latest EP, and the accompanying art, entitled “My View”. The track was created in full during a winter studio break on the Cornish Coastlines with our absolute day one @thirddegree.music . “My View” is taken from our first EP of 2024, “South West Noire”. Alongside the four tracks on the EP, there are three individual art prints available in very limited numbers, exclusively from @thechikaraproject bandcamp page (hit up our bio for the link). Catch Mike representing @the_moth_club_bristol in Melbourne this Saturday playing a dub techno set as we present a delicious collaboration between us and Naarm’s home soiled @modern_hypnosis ‘A beautifully curated record label and side project by Mystic State, The Moth Club is home to deep dub music and dub techno sounds with releases from Pugilist, Akcept, Versa, Bukkha to name a few...’ Ourselves and @modern_hypnosis share a lot of the same key artists so we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to collaborate on an event! Together we invite Aotearoa’s dub specialist @akceptdub over the ditch for an intimate show at the newly minted Wax Music Lounge on Flinders Street. Tickets are running extremely low for this one so make sure you check the link in our bio ⚠️🔗 — We acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin nation as the rightful custodians of the land where this event takes place, and that sovereignty was never ceded.
