The Supreme Court's liberal justices issued blistering dissents in the Trump immunity ruling, arguing that the decision "reshapes the institution of the presidency" and "makes a mockery" of the constitutional principle that no man is above the law.
The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on ideological lines that former President Trump has immunity for some of his conduct as president but not unofficial acts in the federal election interference case. Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for the majority, rejected Trump's broad immunity claims and said that Trump only has immunity for his "official" acts as president. The high court did not determine what constitutes an official act in this case, leaving that to the lower court.
The court's liberal justices issued blistering dissents of the majority opinion. In her dissent, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson said the ruling "breaks new and dangerous ground."

Simone Biles has officially punched her ticket to a third Olympic Games. She will be joined in Paris this summer by Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera.
The team was selected at the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials in Minneapolis on Sunday after two days of competition. With four returning Tokyo Olympians, it is the oldest and most-decorated U.S. Olympic women's gymnastics team in history.

Yellowstone National Park officials say a rare white buffalo sacred to Native Americans has not been seen since its birth on June 4.
The birth of the white buffalo, which fulfilled a Lakota prophecy that portends better times, was the first recorded in Yellowstone history and is a landmark event for the recovery of buffalo, park officials said.
A white buffalo, also known as bison, is born in the wild once in every 1 million births, or even less frequently, the park said.
Whether the calf is still alive is unknown.

Despite America’s deep divide on guns, everyone seems willing to agree that no toddler should be able to find a loaded, unsecured weapon and fire it.
Unlike so many other types of gun violence that plague the U.S., this appears, on paper, to be a solvable problem. There is a broad consensus that people who own firearms ought to store them properly to limit children’s access to them — a rare patch of common ground between the gun industry and gun control advocates.
And yet, a person is injured or killed nearly every day in America because a child has unintentionally fired a gun, according to reports from 2015 to 2022. And children under 6 are among the most likely victims.
The crisis shows just how intractable even the most preventable forms of gun violence can be.
It took Skye just over three weeks after the shooting to start talking again.
“Pick up lefty,” her grandmother said, coaxing Skye to move her weak hand on its own, while they sat together in early May. “Good job, lefty.” Skye gave her own hand a kiss.
