During the talk, we will delve into the transformative influence of lighting and ambience on our homes and gain insights into the duo’s artistic process. HALL Collection DIURNO Milan Design Week 2024 Conceived specifically for DIURNO’s space, Panter&Tourron’s collection HALL consists of a limited edition of furniture and lighting. The series draws inspiration from hospitality environments and features six archetypal works. These include a modular sofa platform, a tubular floor lamp, an ultralight chandelier, mirrored stools and vases, and a series of screen shelves. Regardless the collectible nature of the pieces, each item is engineered flat-pack and dismountable. The grand formal language of the collection is materialised through non-subtractive industrial techniques that avoid production waste and favour mono-materiality. Surface appearances reminiscent of science-fiction aesthetics are recreated and applied by combining industrial and artisanal techniques, resulting in a formal language both futuristic and evocative. Scenes from DIURNO Milan Design Week 2024 DIURNO is an invitation to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Milan’s design week, a speakeasy-style secret lounge where guests can relax in a setup that oscillates between nostalgia and science fiction, and integrates a collection of original furniture designed by Panter&Tourron with a never-before-seen video installation by Davide Rapp. Looking at the decors from gathering spaces like entrance halls, lobbies, and lounge rooms, the pieces in the collection function like a reenactment element, questioning the evolution of these places today and our relationship to shared environments at large. For instance, the typical distance between guests is removed with the simple act of lowering the seating elements closer to the floor, uninterrupted, similar to customs found more often in non-Western cultures.
