Our PAL Baseball 13u were invited to play in The Palm Beach Prospect Select Tournament this weekend. Not only did they battle the 100 degree heat for 3 days in a row, they dominated on the field walking away with the CHAMPIONSHIP! This week’s National PAL Teen Mentoring Summit in Charlotte North Carolina focused on classes pertaining to Mentoring, Mental Health, Financial Literacy, Social Media Awareness, Networking, & Community Service Engagements. The Male & Female Motivational Guest Speaker Sessions were everyone’s favorite as our youth walked out inspired & ready to continue on their journeys as leaders within PAL! Our Cabana Colony site had the opportunity to visit PBSO’s Mounted Unit. Everyone learned about all of the care that goes into the horses, including their nutrition. Getting to pet them & the goats was everyone’s favorite. Thank you PBSO Mounted Unit for allowing our PAL youth to visit. It was an amazing time! #MountedUnit #PBSO #PBSOMountedUnit

Our adventures in North Carolina continued at Duke University where we toured the beautiful campus & athletic facilities. Our Teen Mentor Coordinator Leo & Rob, from our Westgate site, were given the opportunity to run the Duke track! We can’t THANK Defensive Tackle Travis Shaw #4 enough for the VIP experience he gave our PAL youth today at The University North Carolina - Chapel Hill. Mr. Shaw set the tone spending 3 hours of his time showing us every inch of their football program facilities while instilling the message of education, respect of the sport & coaches while working towards achieving your dreams on and off the field. His message was as powerful as his plays are on the field. He had everyone captivated with every word spoken. Today 8 PAL youth flew to Charolette North Carolina attendingThe National PAL Teen Mentoring Summit. These 8 deserving youth were selected from each site based upon academics, athletics, and their commitment to mentor within PAL. Special THANK YOU to the American Airlines flight crew & pilots for the special tour of the cockpit & announcement on behalf of the youth that landed them a huge round of applause from every passenger on our flight! We explored the area, checked into our hotel, met up with some old PAL friends from around the U.S. and made some new ones! The PAL sponsored Gators played in a Backwards K showcase tournament this past weekend in Newberry, FL. The girls played 5 games and put up 37 runs against their opponents, making some great defensive plays & hitting the ball very well. The girls were exposed to College coaches from many different schools. Our Lake Worth Beach site had a busy first week including recycled arts & crafts, the movies to see Inside Out 2, roller skating, mini-golf, and swimming. Along with special visits from our PBSO Therapy Dog Unit, Tutoring with Miss Teresa, and a trip to The Benzaiten Center to do sand glass art. Our PAL wrestlers from our Cabana site just attended the Florida Pride Wrestling Camp at Webber College in Babson Park. They had a great experience & learned lots of new techniques.
