"I am a weather painter. I paint with humidity. I paint with water. I paint with rain. I paint with weather. It requires exposure to wind, to air, to long nights, to wolves, coyotes, all kinds of animals." — Bingyi discusses "The Eyes of Chaos Remaking the Song Palace" (2021–22). Now on view in "Oneness: Nature and Connectivity in Chinese Art."

The 1930s would see innovations of style and method across the board in Henri Matisse’s art: in easel paintings as well as larger, architecturally oriented formats; in sculpture; in prints, drawings, and illustrated books; and in stage design. "Matisse in the 1930s" presents a broad, chronological story of that transformative decade. Opens Oct. 20. More info and tickets at the link in our bio.
