...a short clip from Eating The Middle, a 15 minute video loop with 30 minute audio installation presented alongside a series of paintings for an exhibition of the same title at
@galeriafranreus in Mallorca.
‘Eating the Middle’ is a new series of work that looks for the short circuits between the technological and the arcane - between speculative futures and the veiled and murky past. Instigated by the esoteric language attached to the intangible workings of new technologies; the video follows lines of flight from cybernetics, bio-technology and sci-fi through medieval artefacts, occult systems, weird ritual and the innocent savagery of nature.
These themes are amplified in the accompanying audio installation produced in collaboration with musician, sound artist and one of my oldest friends Alex Roberts. The audio serves to heighten the sense of strangeness, mixing field recording and synthesis into densely textured vignettes that pulse between blissful and eerie.
