August 3-14, I will be teaching a workshop on Cut & Flip techniques at
@pilchuckglassschool . To register, please visit: /programs/session_5_storykeeping
In this intensive class, students will learn how to make representational images in borosilicate glass through stringer drawing. Techniques covered include cut & flip, disk flip, and sock flip, as well as hybrid combinations of these elements. Demos and hands-on torch work will guide students to create images and apply them to vessels, pendants, and functional sculpture.
Although I typically do freehand stringer imagery in my own work, I wanted to make this class open to those without prior drawing experience, so we will also be covering preliminary outline stenciling onto glass. The talented
@eriko_glass will be joining me as my TA, and she will be taking the reins on that portion of demonstration, and moreover, her insight into realistic rendering and color replication will be an invaluable asset throughout the workshop. This one is not to be missed -- hope to see you this summer!
