This handcrafted set designed by legendary chef Masayoshi Takayama (@chefmasanyc ), known as Masa, combines a twisted crystal carafe and two cups for an exceptional cold sake experience. The uniquely textured form of the 8-ounce carafe is realized in clear glass. The sake cups, which hold approximately 4 ounces each, are crafted with a traditional “kohiki” technique: iron-rich clay is covered with a slip of liquefied white clay and a transparent glaze, then fired to produce a striking white hue. Following the seven principles of “shibusa”—simplicity, implicitness, modesty, naturalness, imperfection, everydayness, and silence—the Masa Designs collection is crafted to improve the aesthetics of everyday life. Markings and coloring may vary due to the unique nature of the production and firing processes. Dinner Service by Donald Judd—produced by the French silversmithing company Puiforcat (@puiforcat ) under the direction of Flavin Judd, artistic director of Judd Foundation (@juddfoundation )—is on view in the Gagosian Shop, New York, through July 1. The eight-piece service, in sterling silver, includes distinct yet complementary dinner, bread, soup, salad, and dessert plates, as well as a serving bowl and cup. Configured in various dimensions, the items form a full table setting. Puiforcat worked closely with Judd Foundation to interpret and complete Judd’s designs from the 1980s in a new material, and the pieces achieve the incredibly tight 90-degree angles of the artist’s original prototypes. Nan Goldin (@nangoldinstudio ) is taking over the Gagosian Shop in London’s Burlington Arcade (@burlingtonarcade ), offering visitors an opportunity to explore her practice in depth. On the occasion, we’re highlighting two books on the artist. Originally published in 1986, Goldin’s “The Ballad of Sexual Dependency” is a visual diary chronicling the struggles for intimacy and understanding among the friends and lovers whom Goldin describes as her tribe. This edition includes a new afterword written by Goldin in 2021 in addition to the original foreword. “Nan Goldin: This Will Not End Well” was published on the occasion of the artist’s traveling retrospective focused on her work as a filmmaker. The artworks variously address the trauma of Goldin’s family history, the portrayal of her friends, and a journey into the darkness of addiction.
