The band has played at Roskilde Festival a few times over the years; 2000, 2003, 2006 and 2013 (where this video was taken) In 2000, they played Untitled #4 (Njósnavélin). The live version performed at the festival would later be used in the 2001 motion picture, Vanilla Sky.

Looking back to when Sigur Rós headlined the John Peel stage at Glastonbury 8 years ago this week. A truly magical place and one of our favourite festivals to perform at.

On this day in 2008, Sigur Rós released, Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust. The album title is translated into English as “with a buzz in our ears, we play endlessly.” This was the first album in the band’s career to be made outside of Iceland. It is also their first album to feature vocalist Jónsi’s vocals in English on the final track of the album, All Alright. What was your favourite track from the record?

Last year, the band launched a limited run of concerts with the London Contemporary Orchestra. This was the band’s first ever run of orchestral shows, drawing on their 25-year catalogue as well as records from their latest album, ÁTTA. Later this year, in September, Sigur Rós embarks on their US and Nordic orchestral tour. Thank you to @lcorchestra and @robertamesmusic 🎥 @florencecreffield 🎥 @joelstagg

On this day in 2013, Sigur Rós released their seventh studio album, Kveikur. Described by the band as “more aggressive” than any of their previous work, Kveikur – which means ‘fuse’ or ‘candle wick’ in Icelandic – is heavier, both thematically and sonically. What was your favourite record from the album?

One year ago today, Sigur Rós released ÁTTA. The band’s first studio album in a decade and their most intimate and emotionally direct record to date. What was your favourite track from the album?

On this day, 27 years ago, the band released their debut album, Von. Initially, the record was only released in Iceland. It wasn’t until a few years later that it was made available around the world. Album versions of the tracks evolved over time into the live versions we all know and love, and for some, these live versions will now be more familiar than the original recordings.

25 years ago today, Sigur Rós released a record deemed by Q Magazine as ‘the last great record of the 20th century’. The record was Ágætis byrjun. The title translates to “A Good Beginning” and marks the band’s sophomore studio album following on from the release of their debut LP, Von, two years earlier in 1997. In 2019, the band released a definitive box set celebrating the 20th anniversary of the breakthrough record, featuring never-before-heard material and other rare nuggets, as well as the full 90-minute concert played in Reykjavík on the day the record was released in 1999. What was your favourite record from the album?
