We are excited to invite you to Deep Objects, a group exhibition organized and curated by first year Critical Inquiry Lab MA students. Join us on Thursday 13th of June from 20:00 to 22:00 for the opening night at De Fabriek. The exhibition will then be open every day from 13:00 to 17:00 until Sunday 16th of June. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Deep Objects” is an exhibition that brings together works from the Critical Inquiry Lab at Design Academy Eindhoven. Inspired by object-oriented ontology, the plurality of practices presented speak to each other in their shared condition of interscalar explorations into matters that necessitate a thorough reevaluation of agency, delving into the networks in which they are embedded. All these studies, translated physically into a multitude of mediums, do not presuppose a subject and thus defy the classic definition of an object as “a place in front of”, implying a variety of instruments and approaches to observation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With the work of: Anton Kogge (@boredattheborder ) @aglaejw @adifriedman7 @cleodoelling @cerensozer @frankdvanbeek @gustave.tz @ibaigorriti Manolo Pierson @mhjiamh @renfromsaturn @timeo1.3 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Supported by DAE’s Community Experiment Grant

🌫️ WE ARE GRADUATING 🌫️ The Critical Inquiry Lab presents “Heaviness Within”, an exhibition searching for points of access into the layered realities of our contemporary present through various sensorial mediums and offering diverse practices to resist falling into apathy. Presenting narratives that are personally/universally felt, and gathering themes of fluidity, interrelatedness and existential questioning, the project invites visitors into the labyrinthic spaces of minds, hoping they will find themselves in these numb times. Come to Microlab on Thursday to celebrate ✨🚨🎀

The Collabrative publication is available for purchase for €28,- In order to purchase the publication including this thesis contact us through a direct message(DM). @rosaraaphorst Archives preserve most of our history. They can be the sources for a desirable future. They also can act as proof of activists’ accomplishments and mishaps in the past. The thesis of Rosa Raaphorst discusses the institutionalized and centralized nature of archives and how they only incorporate part of the story. The micro-histories that embody the everyday experiences of activists are mostly overlooked. Through the story of her own mother, she shifts the gaze of the reader to the unseen importance of the contents of boxes in attics all around us. Culminating in a hologram that represents an iteration of a glass bowl, not directed at predicting the future but for prioritizing micro-histories instead, aiming to highlight alternative narratives within a historical setting. The hologram creates a meeting point where the digital, physical artefacts and the body meet. Where pieces from boxes in various attics, containing similar stories and contexts, come together. A site that facilitates orientation, intervention and reflection. Here the archive is not about evidence of existence but a site of inspiration for everyday futures.

The Collaborative publication is available for purchase for €28,- In order to purchase the publication including this thesis contact us through a direct message(DM). ––– p. 333 Loose Threads, Reclaiming Feminist Craft through Maintenance and Repair Witches, spindles, spells, knowledge, community, healing, productivity – inspired by the untold history of female craft Toni Wagner @studiohejt analysed the ritualised practice of mending and how the experience of maintenance can be an act of transformation. Inquiring in theories and close readings of existing mending-rituals Toni developed a ritualised workshop that aims towards slowing down whilst using broken garments and their embodied stories to explore a collective thread unravelling the emergence of agency, renewal and care. Taking the notion of the broken body, a body that needs to be healed, this space is created for individual and collective reflection where broken bodies are allowed and welcomed to be literally emotionally mended and healed through listening and valuing experiences and words together/communally. 📸01 - 04 by Toni Wagner
