Tougaloo College is proud to have hosted Congressman Bennie G. Thompson and U.S. Secretary Pete Buttigieg during his first visit to the state of Mississippi.
The Secretary wrapped up his time in the state by joining Congressman Thompson to Tougaloo College for a townhall with state and local leaders from Jackson and the surrounding area. Secretary Buttigieg learned about all the ways the President’s Infrastructure Law drove growth and created opportunities across Mississippi and future plans for economic growth around Tougaloo College.

Tougaloo College is excited that our cybersecurity clinic was selected to receive funding from the Google Cybersecurity Clinics Fund.
The Tougaloo College Cybersecurity Clinic trains students to provide cybersecurity risk reviews and audits, hosts cyber awareness training for students, faculty, and clients, and offers pro bono services for community organizations, churches, healthcare entities, and small businesses. The clinic, housed in the Mathematics and Computer Science department, recruits students from diverse backgrounds to help organizations at risk to defend themselves against cyber-attacks.

What a memorable weekend at Tougaloo College! ✨ From the Two Rivers Gala - Tougaloo Honors to the Carrie Ellen Rice Residence Hall Naming and Dedication Ceremony, and the grand 2024 Commencement Ceremony, we showcased achievements, dedication, and our enduring spirit.
History was made with the largest turnout at the gala, honoring outstanding alumni like NAACP President Derrick Johnson Rear Admiril Zeita Merchant and Astrophysicist Dr. Hakeem Oluseyi .
Special thanks to Ms. Carrie Lapsky Davis for her generous gift of $1 Million to the College, which was marked by the naming of the Carrie Ellen Rice Residence Hall.

To the current students of Tougaloo: Remember that the fight for justice can illuminate the darkest spaces.
Tougaloo taught me to challenge injustices at every turn and to strive for a more equitable society. It was a full-circle moment to be honored with this award.
